Insurance Companies total a vehicle once water gets above the bottom of the dashboard level, electronics will go bad over time even if all seem okay right now. but its a project so prob no insurence lol

but to answer ur post, yes it is reparable any vehicle can be restored, but is it worth it?
floodwaters are a mixture of water and dirt that forces its way into every seam and crevice dont start your vehicle until a thorough inspection and
cleaning

pull the plugs and spin the engine over to get the water out of the cylinders. disassemble all mechanical parts for thorough cleaning and lubrication. Drain and replace all contaminated fluids, such as oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, power-steering fluid ect. Engine computers and other electronic devices can
be salvaged, corrosion and oxidation may occur weeks after
there cleaned.

good luck man

Basically what Shane said.
Take the motor out, take it apart, clean everything, inspect everything, etc...

Good luck

wouldn't home owner's insurance cover most of these items

or would you have had to have that type of coverage?

As stated above your electronics are likely to have issues but you should be able to salvage the mechanical parts as stated above. I would make sure that you gut the interior to let it dry. There is a product called ospho that can help if you have any surface rust.

I wouldn't mess with it if the water was above the pedals.

I just got a flood car, but the water was just above the door sills. It was totaled by the insurance, but it runs great. I cleaned and dried the carpet and I'm contemplating going for the NYS salvage inspection - it seems it's the worst state for salvage vehicles...

i would just take the motor apart and spray cracks and crevices with carb cleaner that shi* dries up quick might help and or a air hose and spray everything

just try to do it asap so the water doent sit, you should of have been done already. im sure i speak for everyone when i say.. post pics i wanna see a 15 grand project?
