Man...keep your car! In a year or so, the same thing will start happening to RSXs...people will be stealing them and dropping K20s and suspension in 7th-generation Civics, especially the Si hatchbacks. Then when the Integra Type R comes...it's gonna get crazy. Us B18C owners will be off the hook.

I am almost in a similar situation that you are in. I have to sell my ITR due to increase in insurance rates (I did not do anything) and absurd theft problems here in the metro NYC area. Of course I am not so lucky to replace it with an RSX.

I'd like a hatchcrap, but I want out of the Honda scene. Too much theft

Feel Sorry for you guys in NYC! I think some R's stolen from the NYC area just recently...like a couple of weeks ago! Daymn thats gotta suck!

In the long run, probably get a hatch and go stealth! Maybe you'll GROW out of it in age! Dunnno...but if i was in your shoes and lived in NYC, i rather sell it and get something else! At the short end you'll lose money, not your life!

 

Ghetto, think about what I said. this whole R-stealing thing will blow over once the potential of the K20 is explored. I know if I can hold onto mine for about a year, until the major companies start coming out with camshaft packages for the new engines, intakes, etc., then it won't be such a hot item on the street.

Prohect DC2, car is almost ready. quarter-panels are on, ready to be welded and painted. I pray it looks/drives like it used to...man oh man Im nervous

Sorrry to hear that you are selling, it's a shame that you feel you have no choice. If it were me however, I would keep it. Even if it meant buying a beater, or taking it off insurance and riding a bike for a while. If you buy a beater, and put the R as your recreational car, then insurance will drop.

 

Although your case does have some very good logical reasoning, I do not think that theft of DC2R's will decrease drasitcally once the potential of the K20 motor has been unlocked.

Not too many people are fond of the 2002 Civic Si and perhaps there may not be a major demand for stolen parts to use on the car. On the other hand, even if the K series motor becomes more popular, there will still be morons driving in EG/EK/DC who want hot parts.

Well think about this. Aesthetic preferences aside, the kind of people who steal our cars will always want the newest, dopest, titest thing on the streets - since part of what makes it dope/tite is the fact that it's new. Why do you think rap songs get played out 2 weeks after they make it big? People will stil cannibalize our Rs if they own an EK or EG - but the people trying to make a stylistic statment, or be king of the dragstrip/import show will be after the new engines. The crooked shop owners that cater to these kids will be after the new engines. R/GS-R theft won't diappear but it will damn sure decrease. We have the shallowness of the import scene to thank.

 

Hi! I've traded my 'cause of all the thief **** (C my sig). But I don't thing that the new Civic will become a reason for morons to try to steal my ride. At least for a good 3 years. Why? Who's gonna void his warranty on a brand new civic for 40 hp...

Yep you have a point... But I still think my odds are better with my RSX-S.

 

The R won't be an easily replaced. The RSX is a decent platfrom with aftermarket tuners already making parts. If sellin the R to get getting sound sleep and piece of mind do it.

 

Your odds are definitely better with an RSX now...but in 2 or 3 years?

the subaru looks like ***, sorry god (Dan). the celica doesn't do it for me.

And i can't jump inot a sedan, tried that once before and it lasted 3 months.

there's nothing else right now and i don't want used at this point.

RSX will be find for now.

BTW headunit is sold, and the mugen **** is silver.
