Whats the best tranny for my car
I have a 97 lx sedan and i have a B18C5 in it and a GSR tranny, it use to be automatic and was converted when motor was put in, is this a good tranny to go with it or could i use an upgrade???
you could always go with your choice of type-r tranny since you have the type-r motor it would definetly compliment it, the last years of type-rs that they made here had the LSD like the rest of them but they have the 4.7Final drive which is gonna let me able to row the gears big time, its basically the best stock honda transmission created for these cars but if you want one its gonna be probably at the very least 1000dollars but since you have the type-r motor and a gs-r tranny to sell you shouldnt have to much of a problem
the gs-r tranny is very good also, you could always get an aftermarket lsd for it and have it installed and it would be the next best thing to having a type-r tranny, its all what you wanna do really

well, a gsr tranny is not that bad. what do you have planned for the car in the future? if you are going to stay n/a, the a itr trans would be a good upgrade, but you could always swap in a 4.78 (or better yet a 4.9) and install a lsd and have a damn good tranny. all depends on what you want to spend and what is going to be the next course of mods, if any. good luck.
well, a gsr tranny is not that bad. what do you have planned for the car in the future? if you are going to stay n/a, the a itr trans would be a good upgrade, but you could always swap in a 4.78 (or better yet a 4.9) and install a lsd and have a damn good tranny. all depends on what you want to spend and what is going to be the next course of mods, if any. good luck.
well i plan on getting a turbo kit next, and i was wondering if a torque damper is a good investment as well, does it really improve driving that much or is it a waste of money

a b16 tranny isnt even geared better than the gs-r he has, why would he do that? unless you are talking about a 99-00si b16 tranny but then he might as well just get a ITR tranny since its got an LSD

well, if you plan on going turbo, don;t bother with an itr trans. BUT, you should get a lsd regardless. wtf is a toque dampener? are you referring to a dampener style crank pulley? if so, they are useless.

thats the one i meant a 99+ si tranny. Then he can get an aftermarket LSD. I thought the B16 had the second Shortest Gears (ITR being first) of the b series familey.

i believe he's talking about those lil shock looking things mounted from the driver side engine mount to the shock tower. i have a few friends with them, and said it helps keep the motor to rocking. i think we are on the same page.

there are about 10different b16 trannys the 99-00 is a fluke and hard to find and has the same gearing as the first ITR tranny only no LSD but the last ITR's had the best geared tranny out of them all with the 4.7FD
but yes your normal gs-r tranny is better than your normal b16 tranny

yes, that is what i was referring to, my friend told be about it and he said i should get one but i didnt know if it was BS or not
and yes, i think i will go with a new ITR tranny, and it will be good if i get a turbo? because with the setup i will hopefully have, i have been told that it will spool up extremely quick so i do not want to be burning anything up with short gears
