Buy Alpine 9835 Now, or wait until CES happens?
So, I've decided on the Alpine 9835.
But, I've waited this long with basically nothing, so does it make sense to wait until CES happens at the beginning of January to see if there is going to be a replacement?
How long would any unit announced there take to make it to the market?
Does alpine replace every model every year?
Thanks.

It may be worth waiting, the way things change, who knows.
With Alpine, I have found that the new stuff starts getting to the stores right away, some before the show, but other things don't show up till summer.
No Alpine does not replace everything every year.
I would just get the 9835, you realy cant go wrong, I mean what more do you want out of a HU

the question you need to ask yourself is how soon do you want to get it? i mean theres always new stuff coming out, and the new stuff usually has better features more power etc. when these new models come out you may also be able to get the 9835 for a decent price since its discontinued.
patiences is the key... and also the question if u do not mind buyin an open box item ... most likely if alpine does make a replacement model good guy and places like that will sell out there 9835 on clearance... then at the end sell their open box... they will come for around 50 bux cheaper or so... so basically wait and hope to save a few bux or buy now and pray that they dont make a better 1...

I say if you really want that one, go ahead and get it. If you keep waiting around for the next best thing to roll out, you'll never get one.
You really can't go wrong with that HU anyway.

The new decks typically start arriving in feb., starting with the entry level stuff. the replacement for the '9835 probably won't be out until april or may.
it will flip to a new model for 2005. there's wasn'y anything mechanically that make it different than the other models like the 9833,9831,9830 unlike the cda7998/7897 that were current for 2 years which were more unique because of their hiding faceplates. they had to get their money out of design.
i'd jump on the 9835 if i were you. iti is a very good deck and looks clean.
