Atmel 29c256 Discontinued...
Hey ECU tuners.
Atmel has discontinued production of all 28pin and 30pin platforms as of mid October...
SO...what are your ECU hackers reccomending for an EEPROM?

the 27c's are write once I think or UV erasable. Either way you can use the 29c256 for tuning other peoples cars and then burn thier .bin's to a 27c256.
At least that is what I'm going to do for now.

Do a search on the 27SF256... it's not OTP, it's flash-eraseable.
Tchleung, theoretically there shouldn't be a difference (as far as I can see). But like I said I don't know anyone that's used them successfully yet.

I couldn't get my willem to burn 27sf256's. I've tried on my batronix with no luck as well even though they both are supposed to support the chip. I wish I knew what i was doing wrong.
Buy an adapter and goto a 32PLCC package.....
29c256: cost is ~$5.xx for 1 now.
or if you make a 'switch' adapter, try the 29c512
and you could have 2 different 'tunes' on board.
cost is ~$2.15 for 1 now
all you uberdata, chrome, turbo edit folks are spoiled, what with all
the free tools you have....

Jeffery Atwood- This is accomplished by flipping voltage on one of the pins, right? its gotta be a 5v source too, i'd imagine.

we have 4-mem adapter boards in stock with c or sf chips included. our n20 board switches mem under programmed conditions on the fly...dyno'd 353whp on a daily driver with stock sleeves.
if your burner supports them the sf family is excellent...and cheap at under $2ea. we've been using them for over a year.

Hmmm, am I missing something? How will switching to hondata help you out? It runs on the same 'hardware' as any freeware does.
We would all be equally screwed if there wasn't any other solution out there.

Atmel AT29c256 can stillb e found in stock everywhere.. just order a bunch. You can always reuuse them remember. I have bene reusing the same 2 for a whiel now I jsut keep erasing and re burning via on my Moattes Burn1
why are you guys stressing. that carrier style will still be available, just not that memory size. the minimum memory requirements for storing a bin is 256. so you can use a 512 or higher...they just cost a buck more. so instead of the 29C256 you'll use the 29C512. as far as the speed 60-90 is what I would recommend.
