What is the best way to remove the decals off the back of the car? Should i just peel them and goo gone the paint? Or is it going to look worse....?

Please help...

I heard a blow dryer? To use heat to remove them?

Peel it off, and you can use either goo gone, or WD-40 works really good also. But when you do this rewax the area where it came off at. The go gone takes the wax right off.

I bet that paint is going to be brighter under that sticker than the rest of the car.

 

Well thats what i mean, but the paint is in like brand new condition, so it will look alright for now till i get it painted...

 

Use a hairdryer or a heat gun to help peel the sticker more smoothly. Then just take some goo gone like someone said to get the glue residue off.

i used goo gone and soaked it! then took a razor blade to it. waxed it afterwards and no change in color on a 9 year old paint job

 

I think I'm gonna do this today, thing is already half peeled off and annoying!

a plastic razor blade i assume? don't want anyone taking a standard metal razor blade to their paint now... lol



depending upon the condition of the sticker i'll heat first or just peel. then i wipe the area with thinner to get the rest of the residue off, followed by a re-wax...

the pressure washer at your local carwash will probably blow the damn decal right off though... lol

Im not to sure if you have 3m stores down there.. but here i went to a 3m store and picked up this rubber wheel that goes onto a drill... fire that baby up and rub off everything.. it took off my pinstriping on my old dx special edition and letters with no problem. no damage whatsoever to the paint and was very fast

 

even with plastic razor blades you need to be careful not to scratch the paint. It would be just as easy to get a rag and solvent and lessen the chance of scratching it for a little more elbow grease

 

Heat gun. Same idea as a blow dryer but MUCH faster. This is the safest way too. I wouldn't trust any solvents on my paint.

 

yea, i used a hair dryer for about 10 minutes. Then i took some dental floss (string is ok too) and got behind it. please use plenty of heat, use a LOT of goo gone, and gho very slow. i got a few paint chips so you can see the outline of the letters, and therefore i think ima put it back on.

 

if its a sticker kinda deal i used a razor blade and lots of wd40 work real slow so you dont damage the paint.
the badge ones you can heave the car in the sun for a few hours then use fishing line and take it off. lot of crap is going to get left behind you can use a razor blade on it but use alot of wd40 so you dont mess the paint up.

 

I did that to the back of my car, and also took off the pinstripes that were on my car when I got it, I used a blowdryer on one half of the car, and then said screw it for the other half... I had more of a problem when I used the blowdryer because it would leave more adhesive on the paint... which was a HUGE pain in the ***, I would suggest just spraying with some WD-40 or any kind of all purpose lubricant, and taking a razor to it, you won't spend nearly the amount of time that you will if you use a blowdryer and the adhesive sticks to the paint

that sticker badge is a bitch to get off, least it was for me with a blow dryer and wd-40, took about 20 minutes

 

that thing i posted.. works like a charm.. you can get it for like 15-25 at the most, and put in in a drill.. electric or air, and rub it off, its like a huge eraser, and can't be any easier.. i did it for my old model decal and installed a fresh one.. you coudlnt' tell.. no scratches.. its a great tool.

 

i used gas, and then waxed it. Looks perfect

do not use gasoline,,,it will make ur paint faid.......
