Default how many degrees will a thick head gasket throw off cam timing?

Thanks. im put on a really thick HG and now the car isn't starting, im wondering if they are related.

From what I've read, about every 0.012" (0.3048 mm) you mill the head, it will retard the timing 1 degree. So figure out how much thicker the HG is than stock, and it will be the opposite, for every 0.012" it's thicker, it will be advanced 1 degree. I'm not sure if this is just for B series though.

im guessing it will be similar.

this puts me at about 5 or 6 degrees that my timing is advanced.

Thanks GeeReg. are you pretty sure that milling retards and thicker HG advances?

It looks that way. If you search for "milling timing" in the archives you'll get a few posts about it.
