Default B18B1 boring

I am building my b18b1 bottom end, and i was thinkin about boring it out .25 over. I just want to know what are the good and bad things about boring, and how reliable would this be...thnx!

i had a b18a i bored 25 over. thats as far as i would go with stock sleeves mine worked great all of 10,000 miles i put on it then sold it to build something better.

u can go max 82mm(+1 over) on stock sleaves givning u a 1880cc motor.

so then, it will be fairly safe for a .25 overbore...

well this engine is going to be built and runnin higher compression, i like to get on my car alot...but i drive it almost every day...u think itll be able to handle 9k rpms?

IMO I wouldnt build it for that kind of power to drive daily but yes it can be done!

To handle that kind of abuse, i suggest:

Shotpeening factory rods
ARP 8mm rod bolts
New bearings
Post the block with kit from endyne

.25 overbore is fine. The max I would reccomeend that you bore out to is 82mm... anything after that definitely needs some kind of reinforcement.

i was going to bore the cylinders .25 over, get CTR oversized pistons, ARP hardware, eagle rods ,and new oem bearings...i think it should be pretty solid...just debating over the bore, if i should do it or not...i already have an LS head with crower cams, dual valve springs and retainers, so it will be a built engine....i just need reliability.

I wouldn't worry about it! Just go over .25, you will be fine!
