Default LS Turbo Vs. LS with Multi bolt ons

Hey, just got me a 94gsr body with a 95 ls engine. I have about 2500-3000g right now, i know that people say not to ask opinionated questions... but i wanna know whats worth doing. I am going to use my car as a daily driver, but definetly will be racing almost every day. My friends have a wrx(only added boost controller), turbo gsr and a mustang gt.... and i wanna be able to keep up. I know i can get a decent turbo kit or do a bunch of bolt ons, and have been researching around for a few months, i wanna know some opinions. I was looking at the peakboost kit, (cheapturbo.com link below), as well as the basic name brand kits. What do people think about this kit? And do u recommend getting this kit, or turbo in general, vs. direct bolts ons.... ? And which things in general? THANK YOU FOR YOUR OPINIONS!

all that i can say is, if you are gonna be using this car as a daily driver AND beating on it everyday it's not gonna last either way. With boost, sure it'll be quick, and with a lot of tuning on low psi with stock internals it could last for a little while. WIth bolt ons it will last longer, but if you are gonna race a car, it's not gonna last for very long either way.

well, i will definetly race.. But i wont abuse the living crap out of it. I treat my cars nice and i dont push them to the point of blowing the engine, either way, the ls block is old, so i will still need a new one soon enough... so assume i will get a new block soon.

Turbo is probably gonna cost you more than $3,000 after you upgrade your clutch, tuning, gauges, ect... And I think that bolt ons are a waste of money.

Turbo is a big project and not to be taken lightley.....figure at least 3-4k to get it running and to keep up with the cars u listed turbo is the way to go....bolt on ls will not keep up

bolt ons on an LS is not worth it at all if you plan on big powers and keeping up with your buddies' cars.

let me put it this way, my old eg civic with LS swap +i/e/h vs. my buddy's 98 accord w/ i/e/h lost everytime on the highway once we go going. dead stop i'd take him but once we passed 80 mph, he starts to creep and passes me slowly.

That is one hell of a turbo kit you are considering buying, but it doesn't handle fuel management properly for that size of a kit (really nice downpipe, piping, and manifold). It looks a little bit pricey but that is a well put together kit and I think that you will be all your friend's cars with that kit on and tuned.
If you take care of the other things you would need with this kit, like bigger injectors, a fuel pump, possibly a clutch, and maybe at least an s-afc to tune it, then you're up to almost 4K, and that is more than you might have now. I can think of at least 5 other small things that you would want, like boost controller and gauges, etc and just remember, it all adds up. But this is a good place to start looking into it, by doing things smart and in the logical order you will save too.
Good luck on it, I hope you have some good kill stories for us soon.

well 3-4k is okay to start a turbo project but , you also want to build the motor , so you don't come back crying because you blew it up

with 3 grand buy a drag turbo kit. but if your looking for the car to last longer dont go turbo. go with an ls/vtec conversion and build ur internals

agreed with a turbo setup, if you don't plan on investing and doing it right the first time, it is guranteed that in the "near" future you will be paying for it up the wazoo

I would most def. go the turbo route. ShadyEH2 had a stock LS motor in his hatchback, and tuned it himself with a SAFC, and put down 260hp and tq. he drove it everyday and drove it hard. It held up great with no problems.
