hondata??
My civic's been under-construction going on 3yrs. I've been wondering lately if I should get the Hondata s200 for my B16A or use the VAFC that I already have. Plus I need an Wideband o2 unit that stands up to its name.. Any ideas???
Thanks
Thanks
So should I sell the VAFC and use the money for something else, because it looks like the s200 does everything and more than the VAFC does. What a waste of time hooking that up

Hondata is the ****. Heres a graph comparing the VAFC to Hondata on the same basic setup.

While peak power was the same, look at the power at around 5400 rpm, a 20 ft/lb and 20hp increase....

you are going to invest upwards of $400+ dollars to get a wideband unit for your car, and then you have no way to datalog your A/F while driving around. i would recommend getting hondata and tuning it on a dyno. they will be able to datalog your cars A/F and you will also be able to change timing maps. so basically your looking at:
$200 afc, $400 wideband, drive around without datalogging and try to dial in A/F not knowing if you are making gains by the changes you are doing. also not being able to modify timing maps which might be an advantage if you are running high compression.
or
hondata and dyno time. you get proper A/F, timing, maximum power, etc. and probably for about the same price.
p.s. your own wideband is nice to have though, and some more details about your setup would also help.

Well since its a street driven car it should be tuned on the street and on the dyno. As you can put the car on a dyno and tune it ,but when you on the street you a/f's can change alot due to diffrent air density and diffrent loads. Go to the forced induction forum and check out mase's great tuning thread

i realize this and this pertains even more to FI cars than NA cars, due to the differences in VE for difference setups. i gave him my opinion on what i think he should do by reading his thread. since this is the all motor forum i am assuming that he has increased the compression and since it has taken him 3 years to get this setup together i would hate to see him go out and mess it up due to lack of tuning experience and management(vafc). i think he would be much happier with hondata and whoever tunes it should do it accordingly to how and when he will be driving this car/motor.

lohatch, I agree totally with what your saying hondata is the way to go dont cheap on tuning THE MOST IMPORTANT thing there is to do. To me it sounds like he wants to tune it himself buy getting a wideband and afc, but he would get far better results for about the same cost from a good tuner.
Naw I plan now to get rid of the vafc and get the s200 and have a shop called wysabi tune it here in Texas. My original plan was to do the vafc and a wide band but I realized that I have so much money wrapped up in this thing why go cheap and make myself mad when I lean it out and blow the motor...
Just looking for help and you guys have done that.
