Z6 abd Y8 cylinder head - - -
I own a 92 Civic HB Si which has an engine code of D16Z6. My cylinder head is pretty messed up so I found a good deal on a Y8 cylinder head. I'm pretty much sure it will fit right onto my block but my question is....
What is the differance between a Z6 head and a Y8 head? This head came off of a '97 civic. Would the Y8 cylinder head be better than the Z6?
My future plans are to build a cylinder head and boost it. I got a good deal on a complete turbo kit as well, so I just want to make sure im doing things right the first time by getting the best head for this application. Thanks for the help.

You might run into a problem with timing since the two differ from tdc. You might have to use your z6 cam w/ its cam gear to make it work. Not too sure, just know there is a timing issue between the two. I tried it before but with a y8 bottom and a z6 head, didnt work for me. I have a bare z6 head lying around if interested..
good luck though

yes the head will work on the Z6 block. your compression ratio will increase to 9.4:1 but it wont negatively affect anything, but might be something to consider since you plan to turbo your motor. as for the cam timing issue, you could probably run the Z6 cam and gear to avoid the problem. somebody correct me on that if i am wrong on that.

I think that was already said by HyptCvc_, and you're not wrong, seems to be accurate to resovlve any timing problems, not sure about the compression raise though...
