the helms does not say anything about applying grease to the outer face of the throw out bearing, where it contacts the middle of the pressure plate, but the haynes said to grease it. i know helms is much better of a manual, but i just dont want to have any doubts once everything is in my car. if it matters, its a b18b1 with act hdr6 setup
i put a little bit of grease when i did mine. ???don't really know if it would of made a difference but i did it anyway.
I believe I greased mine too. I used the red marine hi-temp grease from walmart, same stuff that some suspension/axle applications use.
you don't need to grease the throwout bearing to the pressure plate. You need to grease it on the inside of the bearing where it contacts the transimission housing. DO NOT get any grease even close to the pressure plate or clutch disc. Grease is the worst enemy for those. Actually make sure to use brake cleaner to throughly clean the pressure plate and disc matting surfaces.

ya i used brake cleaner for the flywheel and the pressure plate surfaces, so they are clean as new. ill go back tonight and just make sure there is no excess grease that could wind up on any of the clutch related contact surfaces.
