I suggest you Search the archives and read up as much as possible.
This has been covered numerous times before and in depth as well as Just Covered the other day: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1060179

since i am going to bulid it without doing any real internal work, performance is what I am looking for. On my EK, I have an Apex'i N1 and I dont want something that big on my R. I'm really interested in the N1 from Spoon. I live in Indiana, so nobody really cares about loudness, so I can let it scream. The Mugen twin-loop is obviously really nice, but don't want to pay that much. You might know this, but this is what irtca says:
Buddy Club Spec 2 or Spec 3
Type 1 Racing B-pipe
Type 1 Racing Axle Back
Mugen Twin Loop
Apex World Sport (one of the quietest on the market)
Spoon Sports
SMSP Custom 2.5"
Hytech Twin Loop
I'm working with a totally stock car, and am satrting by changing the exhaust.

I have the Spoon N1 on my Si. I really like it, yes it's loud, but that doesn't sound like a concern for you. I love the exhaust because of the tone and the size (small). Probably my favorite mod to my Si...
out of all those choices i'd go with the T1R if loudness is not an issue.. i've READ that it gives good power, thought it would'nt be my choice for a daily driver. The hytech is supposedly a little less powerful but alot quieter.
Go with the spoon my buddy's got car's got spoon from the header to the exhaust, with not cat, that car sounds so amzing threw out the whole rpm range, by far the nicest sounding 4 cyl., i've ever heard, expensive from what i hear, with the arc intake, oooooh man

97 R i want one. id stay stock and hide it away for 30 years and then drive it around as the "last mo fo breathin'"-2pac.
jk. i dont have an aftermarket exaust, but i hear T1R is good alot, and Apexi N1 is crazy loud if u want that...Comptech is loud but smooth....HKS is kinda loud i wouldnt get it...also heard tanabe racing medallion is loud but the "best" exaust for the R, whatever that means...i will probably look into T1R when i have money....but performance is in the header i feel with bolt ons, so if u dont have one of those, look at that first. my opinions of course. good luck buddy.
