I have 4 grand saved up for my turbo kit that i want to put in my type R. So do i go and get the stage 2 non ac kit from full race or peice one together my self?

Full-race seems to be the way to go these days. Just keeps producing great numbers.

I pieced together my kit for around 3k, with an extra grand I could have definately beefed up my internals. Either way your going to be happy. Just do things right if your piecing together...meaning take your time and get some info from people who know what there doing.

it all depends upon upon what your goals and stuff are. what else do you have on your engine?

 

i have a built block 10.1 compression. golden eagle sleeves, crower rods the block has 83mm ross pistions in there and i have a ported head from port flow with vavles springs and retainers. I have an aem ems for tuning and an exedy twin disk clutch. I am not looking to make huge amount of power. This is a street car which i drive every day to work and school. I only want to make about 300whp and i am looking for a turbo which will spool up very fast.

 

well since you already have a built block you can go custom and make that power easy.
I have a simliar setup im running 10.5:1 compression and a SC63 turbo and i should make decent power down low. I htink i might change up my turbo tho cuz its kinda overkill on my setup i'll never use its max power. Back to your question tho yeha just got with a Custom kit and you should be GANGSTA. you wont need to spend all 4g's to get that 300hp.

I was just about to suggest that. A GT28RS with an ATP T3 housing with a full race kit for the rest of the pieces.

 

i was really considering getting that turbo. Oh i have a few questions about that how. do i have to run the coolant that goes to the turbo and what are the pros and cons in running coolant to it. Also if it has a built in wastegate how can i run the full race kit?

Ask Jordo how sweet the Full-Race kit is on a Type R. He has a stage 3 kit and on his stock b18c5 motor it made in the mid 300's whp. With a stage 2 you shouldn't have any problem seeing 400 whp with a built motor. As far as spool time, the big T3/T67 of the stage three on the stock R motor was boostin by 4k and at 7psi by 4500. That manifold is awesome with spool time.

basically the way i and i think a lot of people see it is like this:

1) you can go the custom route, save some money and have a turbo kit that might have a few bugs to work out. It might fit ok, it may need a lot of welding (aluminum welding is sometimes hard to find) and other things. If you are the DIY type, and have a lot of time to tinker with your car until you get it perfect, this is a great way to go as you can learn how to do things. In all reality, you really dont save any money when all is said and done, especially considering the time that goes into these things. Of course if you are a welder yourself with fab skills, then this is a no-brainer.

2) you can use a full race kit, it does cost a bit more initially, but NOTHING ever has to be changed. it is the last manifold you need, the last wastegate you need, the last bov you need etc. you will not have to upgrade, you wont have to change parts around, you wont have to do research. Put the kit on, make as much power as you think the motor will hold, end of story.

the whole purpose of Geoff making the kits the way he did is so that you dont need to piece **** together like before . He uses all the top notch stuff out so all you need to do is bolt it up and tune it and go. Just need to get a good management and roll.

 

See if full race can put together a kit incorporating the gt28rs, you will NEED the external gate if you want to use the t3 version of the turbo.

we do have a t3 frame gt28RS turbo kit, its our Stage 1 GT turbo kit. it is essentially the same kit that Jeff Evans/Boosted Hybrid has been running with excellent success.

 

you can find a full race manifold on the classifieds section. lots of people are selling them to go with the love fab , crb, toyo manifolds.

I've personally seen a few full race manifolds cracked in the earlier days. I think full race has improved since then. Talk to geoff and ask him if any of his manifolds have cracked see if he'll tell you the truth. I've seen two , all they do is just reweld it and send it back to customer.

1 full race manifolds are expensive
2 you get the same support from other guys like love fab, etc
3 the resell value on a full race is low (check out classifieds) there are people selling their manifolds for a while and have problems selling it
4 the quality and material of the manifolds are the same


Go with a non name brand manifold and you might be able to finish your turbo kit for under 4 grand

go with full race and you'll get the same performance like love fabs but you'll be short on funds

 

well i was personally gonan go with full race cause it is one the bets ones out there( drag and revhard). They have great manifolds and is one of the better kits out there. Especially with a type r you are going to put out great numbers.

the custom kit will we less but you put what you want with in your engine. If you get a full race turbo kit you get what they give you.

Afreidn of mine said to me " ful race is one of the best turbo kits out there" but if " you wnat get a custom turbo kit and you will prbably save like 1000- 1500 dollars.
