JDM D16Z6 or JDM ZC?
I'm trying to create an engine swap that would be great for my 95 civic. I will add a turbo and new pitons and rods. What engine would be a better choice?
I dont see where people keep getting this "JDM" D16z6. I maybe wrong but from my knowledge i have never heard of one thats in japan, only US and Canada cars. It came in the 92-95 EX/SI cars.
You got the JDM ZC right, that was made in only Japanese cars, personally not worth the time if your OBD1 already. Thats a very good motor to put into a CRX or 88-91 Civic.
Out of the choices you gave the z6 would be your best and less hassle choice.
What car is this going in?
Before i get in trouble with ZC owners, you could convert it to whatever OBD you want to put it in your car but i personally think its not worth it.

What ecu and harness could i use? Everyone tells me diff. I have the money to buy a whole new harness, but i rather buy one than convert my dx.
You want me to tell you?? Think about it ive been telling you what to do so far, how is this your car anymore over a car that i set up for you.
Its your car man, do what you want, dont let people deside for you what to do (like i started to do).
Flip a coin if you cant deside. Want me to flip for you?

True that. I've been looking at turbo for a while now, but i want to use a hf manifold and i can't figure out how to create a down pipe for it.
yes there is a jdm sohc vtec motor, not shure what car it came out of. I bought mine from ard performance in cali. its got zc stamped on the block, and is a replica of the d16z6. people always assume that the only zc is the obd-o crx,hf dual cam non vtec motor. I have pics of mine if you would like to see it. and btw you can buy one from http://www.ardperformance.com for about ($630.00)+ shipping, you will need to get a p28 ecu out of a 92-95 ex/si civic, run a vtec press. wire and a vtec solenoid wire to the ecu. very simple just get a haynes manual and the wiring is in the back.

sorry to burst your bubble but u cant have both. n/a is relieable but u wont get as much power, specially on a D. turbo u will get the best power out it but w/ turbo comes tuning and all that fun stuff that can rack up $ but if u get it tuned properly it can be pretty reliable.........or else.....car go BOOM!!

You can have power and reliability but you're basically going to have to do it yourself cuz you can't trust anyone to do it right. Except for the aftermarket ECU tuning; you're just going to have to find the right person. And you're going to have to have realistic power goals a bit under 200hp.
Im pretty sure he's talking about the OBD1 ZC. If there's ever a choice between the JDM and USDM equivalents, take the JDM cuz it's lower mileage. And probably hasn't been flogged on as badly as an american would flog on their sport model.
DO NOT ORDER FROM ARD in Chula Vista. Instead, take the broom handle and rape yourself up the *** it's much more satisfying then paying those shady *** lying scum bags to do it for you. **** them.

From what i know the ZC has more compression. Though everything is stamped p28. iD considering doing the d15b Vtec (JDM) if youre going to go turbo though. JUst saying that from experience. BUt you also stated that youre going to be doing pistons and rods so if you are going to do that i would just get a usdm Z6.
D16z6 is better. ive done my research and all the jdm d15b has over the d16 is a more aggressive cam.. 2hp more, lol thats a joke. youd get more power too if you replaced the d16 cam anyways.
d16 is also better to boost because of its lower compression, the jdm zc is a bit higher i believe.
D16z6, good luck getting your hands on a good one though

single cam ZC is a 1.6.....jdm d15b is a totally different motor, from what everyone says its the motor that honda had a secret to, its supposed to be pretty bad ***.
i gotta SOHC ZC in my 95 hatch....its OBD1 and ive been told it pulls a little harder than a d16z6, it dropped right in.
from what i heard, its like this....92-93 JDM civics had the d15b, then in 94-95 they threw in the ZC. But i wouldnt quote me on it.
all a d15b is a vx block with z6 head and a more aggresive cam.
