b18a1 b18b1 head??

Default b18a1 b18b1 head??

i have a b18a1 in my 90 crx si and today i was given a b18 b1 head would it help my car performance to switch to that head i know i would get alot more out of a vtec head but this wwas free , and has anone used this setup before thanks. oh and the b18a1 is from a 90 not the newer one with a little more power thanks

as far as i know the b18b heads have slightly more agressive cams and a little bit better flowing port design. if you are running an obd1 ecu, you might want to switch to a 94-95 ecu.

The B18b head flows a little better, other than that it is the same unless you have the IM, in which the 94+ IM is better! IMO have the B18B head machined and save it for when you want to do a build!

The b18b IM flows a good bit better. When i was rebuilding my motor i sat a b1 head next to my a1 head and they looked basically the same. I measured both the intake and exhaust ports and they were the same...but the area around the valves on the b1 looked a little larger...so thats prolly why it flows a little better. If i were you id save the b18b head and slowly build it as you get the money. You prolly wont notice THAT much of a difference switching to b1 head if its stock.

what year was your a1 engine?
