I just don't know what it is about the SOHC.... (new dyno #'s inside)
...but it just keeps calling me back!
Yes, I've returned to planet SOHC-T, I call her "project resurection"
I pulled the motor out of my recently totalled '98 EX coupe, freshend it up with a new headgasket, water pump, timing belt, and tossed it into my newly aquired '94 CX hatch. Also tossed a GReddy SOHC kit on it ($800, couldn't pass it up!) and viola! Here I am!
Anyways, just got back from a local dyno day with some new numbers. The car has only been running for a day or two, so I don't have a boost controller hooked up yet leaving me with the stock 5psi off the wastegate. Anyways here's the setup and numbers:
Stock 140k mile D16Y8
GReddy SOHC kit w/ NPR FMIC
DSM 450's
Uberdata
164.6whp / 145.0wtq @ 5psi
I wasn't expecting more than 150whp +/-, so I was pretty happy. Just gotta toss the Walbro 255lph pump in and find a cheap manual controller and see what she'll do at 10psi
Long live deh SOHC!

Welcome back bitch!
Funny, I got my greddy kit used for $900, you got a ******* steal!
Question for you. How's your bottom end doing after all that boosting? I've been boosting for 22k miles not and it's been running pretty well. How did you maintain your motor so it would last as long as it has?

Personally, I attribute it to #1 being SUPER **** about maitnence, borderline paranoid with pulling plugs and changing the oil. Just the way I drive is itself a blessing to the car since I don't toot around with my foot pegged to the floor like alot of other folks I know. #2 Mobil 1.... best stuff on earth IMO

Re-read what I wrote. My car IS running well, I was just asking for tips on how to keep it running well, maintenance-wise. I want to make it a track *****.
I was thinking of letting Seafoam sit in the motor for a few hours to clean up the pistons and cylinder walls, they were coated with carbon deposits when I did the HG.
