Default 96-98 DX gague cluster question

I tried looking this up but didnt find anything useful...

Im about to buy a 97 dx coupe the only problem is theres no in dash tach... and i refuse to go rice an buy a gay big old tach... my question is if i buy a new gauge cluster from honda from an lx or another model is the install simple? will it be just plug an play?

yeap, totally plug and play.

i was in the same boat as you man. i was pissed to find out that a car that only comes in manual doesnt have a tachometer and those big tachs are so tasteless and ugly looking. an LX, EX, or SiR will fit.

Don't buy a new cluster from Honda. It's going to cost close to $1000 for the whole cluster, since everything like the gauges come separate. Buy one used from an EX or Si. Plug and play.

a 1st gen CRV cluster will work also. Same as EX clusters just different color and fonts.

It's not $1000 for new cluster stuff from the dealer, but still a used one is a better deal. PM me, I've got all the guages and cluster housing for sale cheap!

It may not be close to $1000, but it will still be cheaper if you bought a used cluster.
