how to 1990 1991 si jdm crx cluster everything inside info links ef8 wiring
As im doing my ef8 cluster swap i noticed there are a ton of threads with little to no info so here is pretty much all you need if you have a 90-91 si and are putting a ef8 cluster into it.
info on how to wire cluster in 90-91 si :
http://b16a.honda-perf.org/cluster.html
info about wiring in crx hf (not sure about year) :
http://www.geocities.com/Motor....html
info on how to install vss :
You have to cut one of the "wings" if you will. There are 2 on the vss i would cut the one that is oppisite the side with the mounting appendage. One bolt should be sufficent in holding the sensor to the base. I cut the wrong side off and it still worked but i had to zip tie it onto the tranny. (drove it 6 months havnt had probelms) It was just temporary anyway because im swaping in a b16 this weekend. But it still worked out nonetheless.
link to more info and pics about modifications to the vss itself:

Wireing:
looking at the side that the wires go into that connector (not the plug end) and with the tab on top
ground, power, signal
The first wire is ground it goes to any ground.
The second wire is power and gets ignition 12v (must shut off when car is off)
The third wire is signal it getts spliced anywhere in the wire going from the cluster to the ecu. you should already know what pin on your guage cluster is sence you already installed or are installing cluster that uses a vss.
it is a good time to run a wire into the car from the engine compartment before you are sodering your connections for the cluster that way you can sodder it right in wile your soddering the cluster.
if you are installing the ef8 cluster this signal wire will get spliced in with the yel/red wire that will go in b1 (the 8pin connector on the top center of the back of the cluster
this is a pdf doc with a pic of how the vss system works:

Has anyone installed a Si harness into a crx dx? If so, How did you hook up the rear light plug from the dx into the Si plug, because the wires colors are different...
what in the f#@&k does this have to do with the jdm ef8 cluster?
