Default Building turbo header, what pipe diameter and thickness?

Planning to build a stainless turbo manifold for my turbo neon. The exhaust ports are 1.835" x 0.950" ovals. Should I use 1.5" pipe and "flatten" one end out a bit to match up with the port? Also, would you guys suggest schedule 40 304 stainless from McMaster Carr?

I'd like to see pics of that process if someone has time

me as well!!! it would be damn near impossible to "flatten" schedule 40 stainless. Most people(honda's included) just weld the 1.5" schedule 40 on there and then get a good carbide porting bit and from the backside of the manifold smooth out the transition into the piping.

i just weld in the void and then use the carbide to smooth it out, works good for me

well becarefull so you dont heat it to much cus it will turn it dark and it can rust, i think if you have a press you could flaten it pritty easy,

Oh man, i can just see this getting dangersous. 12tons of pressure on some pipe and then, woops, it pinches out and shoots a hole through your wall~! be carefull man!

So was I! lol
Just think, as it clamps and compresses more and more it'll want to pinch it out and it'll happen pretty fricken quick!!!

It's no longer a header when you use pipe call a roto rooter they will tel you what size to use

lol kidding kidding

what is the sizne of the engine tpye of racing used for rpm rnage etc that will help determine sizing

thanks for the input.

It's a 2.0L dohc engine. Low compression (8.8:1) and holset HX35 turbo. Ported head/intake manifold and crane turbo grind cams. Mostly street driving / drag racing. Looking for 400+hp setup. Usable rpm range 4-8k.
