CF jdm hood fit U.S crx ?
HI, just like the post says, Does the carbon fiber JDM SIR hoods fit a U.S crx with stock sheet metal?? MY hood looks bad from years of track time, and I am thinking of going b18 sometime when I can get the stuff I need. Also I heard that it keeps the motor from hitting the hood. And ideas would be nice. Any pics of them on crx's out there to look at would help to.
yeah, fiberimages has a Sir style hood that fits the USDM front end, but there are cf hoods for the JDM front end, so make sure its the fiberimages...and if you're talkin b18c, you're definitely gonna need more room...
since we have some conflicting answers.... http://www.fiberimages.com/crx8891.htm
I answered the question thinking about the cf hood from jdmhondaparts that will fit the jdm front end. The fiberimages hoods are nice and as a bonus they DO fit the us front end and headlights.

Do you know where another pic is, that one is not that good. Plus I have the stock front end. Do you know if the b18 non v-tech motor is ok with the stock hood?
Get a Fiberimages, they fit the best. I had both us style and now jdm style and they both fit great. I'm getting mine clear coated too, might want to do that since their gel coats sometimes fade in the summer time from the heat. Even though my lights are off centered from being hit, the hood still fits nice. It actually lips over the headlight a bit.

OH yeh, I have a b16a with a welded mount and I have no clearance problems. Even with the stock hood. The cf hood I have they re-enforce the skeleton on the outsides and not the insides, so there should be definitely clearance for it if you got the cf.
...stock hood will hit the engine....
but i dont think it was that bad. =X
but yes the Fiber Images Carbon Fiber Hoods will make nice clearance.
Email me if you want to buy the FI CRX SiR CF Hood.
or you can email CarbonFiberHood@aol.com
Thank you.

The stock hood won't hit the hood. HOWEVER, I bet you don't have a front tranny mount and your motor will flex and hit the hood when your racing and shifting. It's ok not to have the front mount for a little while, but your back mount will feel the stress like mine did. Weld a front mount, get urethane motor mount inserts and the motor won't go no where. Get a CF hood too, no clearance problems for sure.
If you are using a Fiber Images JDM hood you shouldn't have a problem with the correct mounts. Since you are in NC try giving R&D Motorsports (843.760.4804) a call they carry FI hoods and are located in North Charleston, SC.
