The thing is i can find dynos for R's,but I'm interested in what gains the GSR will have, because I'm considering changing my header to JDMDC-4-1 or JDM.If the gains aren't impressive I will stick with what i have.

Maggs: I posted mine before, here they are again.

Red: "baseline" number (the lower one obviously ) is: 2000 GS-R with AEM intake and 18deg timing.

Blue: Same car, same intake, same timing, only difference was that I added a JDM ITR 4-1 and carsound cat (94006). Still using the stock exhaust.

next graph..

red: same as the blue line above
blue: same car, mods, etc but with the power steering belt removed.

next graph..

red: current setup (aem cai, 18 deg timing, jdm 4-1, carsound cat, no ps belt)
blue: old setup (aem cai, 18 deg timing)

Dava-ROR: You have some really nice numbers. I'd say that you have one strong motor! You're already putting out more power than some of the stock ITR's i've seen on this board. Is advancing the timing something easy to do? I'd like to free up some horsepower but are there any cons about doing so?

Would getting a V-AFC help squeeze out more horsepower after i/h/e?

A GSR with just an AEM should dyno around 150 to the wheels.

Is advancing the timing something easy to do?
Advancing timing is very easy. c-speedracing has a how-to on it if you want to learn how to do it.

I'd like to free up some horsepower but are there any cons about doing so?
On the timing side, no cons at all as long as you run 92+ octane gas, which you should be doing already on a GS-R. Another mod you can do to free up some hp and tq is to remove the PS belt. Here's a how-to I wrote up for that: http://www.bseries.net/html/garage/psbelt.php

The only con is that parking is a bit more difficult.. but once you're at speed I prefer no PS over PS anyways.

Would getting a V-AFC help squeeze out more horsepower after i/h/e?
Actually, with proper tuning you can gain more power with a V-AFC before i/h/e. But I def suggest one after I/H/E.

Wow thanks, you're awesome man!
Hm...I guess i shouldn't advance my timing then since i live in cali and the only gas i can get is 91 octane .

Well, you can advance it, just retard it again if it pings. I should have said "for your average GS-R".. I've run my car at 20 before with no pinging, I'm just too lazy to set it back to 20. lol.

would you get high gains using the JDM4-1 on a NON-VTEC MOTOR?

I'm not sure, but once I get a G2Integra I'm going to try it

that is a common question among us LS owners. Many of you VTEC guys rave and have only good things to say about the JDM header. Has anyone installed one or seen dyno graphs showing the results if any on the LS motor?????

--also, since the JDM header has the 2.5" collector and either a test pipe or magnaflow cat are needed. Is there any sound difference...ie, is it louder??

Any 2.5" cat works. I'm using a carsound cat myself. It doesn't seem louder at all really. I do hear the VTEC xover now (didn't before, just heard the secondaries before), but obviously that doesn't matter to you either since it doesn't apply to your motor at all. I'd like to test it on a b18a/b18b but I'm too lazy to take mine off, swap it onto someone's LS, then reinstall it on my chit...

also, since i think the LS cat is longer wouldn't the JDM header designed for the R not fit correctly when trying to add an aftermarket highflow cat?? Wouldnt the JDM header be too long??

RS/LS/GS b-pipes are the same length as 00/01 GS-R and 97-01 ITR b-pipes. You have to replace the cat anyways so you get a JDM ITR 4-1 and a carsound cat (from mike@ipsracing for example) that already has flanges, etc welded to it. The JDM ITR 4-1 and carsound cat will mate to the stock LS b-pipe perfectly.

I will.. but not until april/may.. gotta go fix the body on my Conquest TSi, paint it blue, then sell it before I can get a G2..

I'll do back to back test with the stock header & exhuast, JDM 4-1 and a SMSP race header. The exhaust will be custom made for the last two headers though..

well, thats kinda an uneven test do you agree? I have a 3rd gen LS and the exhaust isnt custom built its aftermarket. Still, very curious of the results, anyone else????

Well, since it's for my race car......

It will be the same exhaust for the JDM 4-1 and the SMSP header, but it wont be a street legal exhaust. If someone with a gen two that also lives around here wants to let me use their exhaust I'll spend the time dynoing the headers with a testpipe and a street exhaust.
