Steep Axle Angle & Hood Rub w/ HASport Mounts
b series in a crx, these axles are at a steep angle, and i had so much trouble getting the passenger side to stay in, and it still looks like its about to fall out at any moment.
then i look at this:
http://www.jdmshit.com/hcp/EFfitment/index.html
"The axles are perfectly straight with the EF-18X kit. Since HCP places the motor further back to the firewall, it makes the axles as straight as possible."
"The height of the motor sitting in the engine bay is in the stock location. There is plenty of clearance to fit a B18C GSR or Type R motor in there without the rubbing the hood."
these are both problems ive had.
i also have a decent amount of in car vibration but that is due to the rear tranny mount hitting the crossmemeber, it wasnt bent down enough, which is installer error not a mount problem.
at last my question:
HCP Mount Owners, how far is your downpipe and oilpan from the road at stock height or lowered? I'd like to know please, thanks!

Hey I dont have any mounts for sale but I will say I run the hcp mounts and they are great I dont have any axle bind, and Im not sure about hood clearance because I have the hood on my car cowled(raised in the back)hopefully you can find a set of the hcp mounts they are cheap and work great!
thanks for your reply, what engine do you run, and how low does it sit?
anyone else with these mounts?
i dont want to buy a new downpipe eveytime i go to taco bell.

yes the car isnt perfect, but that isnt what this post is about. im in no way knocking hasport, they make the best stuff around, just not for this particular car.
so back to the point of this topic, downpipe clearance with HCP mounts, anyone got pics or some useful info to add?
but please dont tell me you have hasport and how great they are, because i know they make top notch stuff.

I have a B18C with the HCP kit and I am also running a DC Sports GSR 4-1 header (not the JDM ITR 4-1). I have 16" Rotas on 205 45 series tires, so that might have played a role in my following measurements.
With the stock suspension I had 4" of clearance from my header to the pavement. Now It's dropped on Koni/GC's with a 2" fender gap all around and my header is 3" from the pavement. The header sits a little lower then the oilpan, the oilpan has a clearance of about 4" (with the car dropped).

I'd really like to see pictures of this since the real difference in the engine position between HCP mounts and Hasport, is HCP mounts the engine lower. It seems strange to me that you would have an axle alignment problem with Hasport mounts. Please post picks perhaps there is a problem I can help you with.

Yup, I have had PR and now Hasport mounts, I have no axle bindage and my axles are straight now. My hood does not rub either.

i knew youd chime in eventually!
the passenger side axle just would not cooperate when i did the swap. went through 3 sir clips and i was SLAMMING this thing in the last few times. It could be a problem with the tranny, and this front end did have a small jolt from the previous owner, so its probably just off.
however the axles when the wheel is not turned at all point towards the front of the vehicle about 10 degrees, and also angled downward, but thats going to happen, an axle is supposed to be able to handle that...but anyway it was helping to pull the axle out when i made a 3 point turn. then it started happening even without making any sharp turns. the eventual fix was an axle from autozone, that was like 2 milimeters or so longer then the one i pulled out, i did my best to straighten them and pressed the tranny sides against a straight edge to see. so it could have been a badly made axle, since i know it wasnt oem, thats for sure. also, are the hasport axles any longer then a 91 teg non ABS?
so it wasnt fun and it messed up third gear in the process because i lost so much tranny fluid when i first finished the swap before i noticed it
its just a sad story, but not anyones fault, except me, for picking a shitty swap candidate. it was free, come on, who can refuse free?

this is answered in my above post. the cars not perfectly straight. but it was pulled already, so i was looking at other options to relieve pressure from the axleshaft.

They're slightly shorter. Sorry about your problems though.

the questions were rhetorical and meant for jest. Thank you.

been using Avid B series for like 2 months now...the axels are fairly straight...the hood closes on the B16a perfectly...and in the 3 weeks i've been running the car nadda binding. hasports would've been nice...but Pannauto =moto takai desu
