For those living in frosty regions, wondering if it's worth just taking off the bumper for snow conditions? Seeing how the headlights/turn signals are not mounted to the bumper cover, it'll still be legal but I am wondering about water/snow reaching the engine bay.

No parking space for a beater. No desire to double my insurance cost. No desire to do useless repairs that could go on the daily driver.

 

try to find a POS front bumper and use it for the winter...i wouldnt run no bumper...

 

I rock the stock bumper - just remove the lip

Why would you remove your bumper for snowy conditions. I am not following the logic....

buy a pos front bumper like he said... or just buy a front bumper mask for when u drive and car cover for when its parked....

Same reason why you put snow tires on steelies instead of your $1500 rims. Basically, the EG Civic's sit a lot lower than my Prelude does. While my Prelude was lowered 3", the bumper was so short that it could still clear 5" of snow. This creates an issue when I have to work (deliver chinese food) and there is more than a couple of inches on the ground, because they never plow the roads the day it snows.

no, I put my snow tires on to keep my *** on the road. I can't even drive at 15 KM/h with performance tires on.

and my car is lowered too. and unless I plan on driving throw snow banks, my bumper wont be getting caught in the snow

 

you're forgetting about the wonderful thing called ICE...go on the highway and have a piece bust up your nice bumper and see how you feel. From reading his question i thought he was saying driving without a bumper at all?? cuz he said the lights etc arent attached to it...but anyways, you don't have to drive into a snow bank to damage anything.

 

oh...I keep my rims on my car during snow season. I just have all season tires on them. Never slid of the roadonce. My car sits pretty low and I havent gotten stuck yet either, that is why i was wondering

 

yeah no kidding... ive got a lip on mine too and i've never encountered a problem once.

 

oh and if youre stuck on taking the bumper off, do NOT run w/o one. maybe when youre bumper is off you'll understand, but you simply cannot do that.

like others have suggested, just buy another cheap oem bumper. my suggestion would be to hit up ebay for a crapping fitting, but cheap bumper. you can get em shipped to you for &lt;100$ which imo is pretty good

Anyways, I am almost positive I could score an OEM bumper for under a $100 locally here, so no need for eBay and getting one shipped.

I guess I am just worried about the lip crushing, or the bumper bending. Colorado snow can get very accumulative very quick.
