Dashboard Warning Lights

The Maint. Req'd Light on the 2002 Civic. Does this light come on when it's time for a maintenance service(ie oil change, tune up) or does it mean there is a code set in the computer? If it's just about maintenance, how do you reset it?

Yes. No clue how to turn it off since i dont have a 02 civic.
