PCP headlamps vs. TYC headlamps
For any of you guys who have experienced headlamps from both PCP vs. TYC, which do you prefer? Or if you've experienced either/or, how do you like them? I'm trying to find out which has a better beam and whether the maker/product is any good or not. Also, keep in mind that I may want to switch to a bolt-on HID kit later on. Any feedback or pics of either headlamps on your 5th Gen' Civic's are more than appreciated.

what site can you get the tyc headlights off of? From my experiences, i know the tyc headlights are DOT approved. Ive seen the other procarparts headlights on a couple sites but have never seen the black housing tyc ones, only the clear ones.

We have them in stock, they have plug&play harness, so no headaches.
The housing is made of very durable hard plastic.

You know what? I think I've read that somewhere before. Interesting if that were true. I wonder which manufacturers and for what countries they made them for.
Thanks for the feedback, guys.

Well if I'm reading this right and I'd like to think that I am, I would say go with the TYC. I personally like the look of the procarparts.com ones better, but if you're going to go with H.I.D. you don't need those lines in there affecting some of your light output. Go with the clear TYCs if you're planning on going H.i.d. in the future. I'm not voting though.
Here is a (poor) pic of my car with the TYC one-piece headlamps. I got them because a truck ran over the front of my car, destroying my stockers. Thankfully, though, the TYC beam pattern is incredible compared to stock and it worked out to be a good deal for the $200 price tag.

how the light output on those compared to stock? i beleive they only use fog light bulbs correct?
i plan on goin with HID's in my EG and im torn between either getting those tyc projectors or retofitting some other projectors into the clear TYC housings.

Yeah, I noticed the PCP headlamps are fluted only around the edges of the lense, but is that enough to affect the beam pattern? Also, when you say go with clear TYC's, does that mean don't get the one's with the black housing? If so, then doesn't that black area not even affect the light anyway?

Yeah, I know the projectors give the best beam-pattern, but as a preference, I'd rather not go with the 1-piece headlamps such as yours. I already don't even want to do the Euro look with the diamon-cut headlamps. I can't even use my JDM headlamps now because of how much I want to use my HID's. Nice Si though.

Do you mean the H3 bulbs? My girlfriend recently switched from her Denji projectors to JDM headlamps. But I noticed her lamps used the H3 bulbs, normally found on a lot of foglamps.

the thing hanging next to the headlight bulb hole is a strobe..(i know, kinda ricey lol)..and you can kinda see the city light..ignore the corner of the c/f

here are my sylvania silverstars..that pic does no justice for the output. i love em and would never spend over $20 a bulb on anything else
(the right headlight is the exact color of the light

a pic of the city lights..light output is slightly brighter, but still that deep amber/gold whatever you wanna call it

and a close up..

finally a little jdm hotness
along with my alpine-9827

sorry no daytime pics..i deleted them off my computer. they look exactly like the ebay pic though. also, i did that home made climate control and cluster thing.

The light output is much improved as compared to the stock EH headlamps. They use standard H1 bulbs which may or may not be "foglight" bulbs. Lighting is something I know very little about...you'd have to PM my little brother Hatchy-ownzjo0 to get a correct answer to that question.

I've heard the HID retrofit into the projector housings gives you absolutely amazing output. My light output is almost as good with these one-piece headlamps as my brother's HID retrofit in his stock housings. I would imagine that the output when combined would be absolutely fantastic, but if the styling of the lights holds you back I won't beat that dead horse too much.
Remember, I got mine after a truck ran over my car's face in a parking lot, so it's not like I was a huge fan. These were clean, cheap and functional and, after having them on my car for a while, I came to enjoy the way they look.

p.s- i have my city lights wired to my corners. but, i taped off one of the dimples on my corner bulbs so they ONLY BLINK in my opinion it looks much much cleaner. even with the headlights on, i still think it looks better.
i did the same corner mod to my M3 cause the amber corners didnt match the HID headlights, fogs, and angel eyes
pics were taken with my sony cybershot 5.1mp

I own the PCP light. If you buy them from their website, the price is usualy better than ebay. Everybody thinks they really change the whole look of the car. The city light sockets are really nice once you purchase the sockets and bulbs fron honda (97 prelude). The headlights bolted right on, the glass looks very clean (all the non forward facing sides of the glass are painted black on the outside too) and the fit was perfect. Once I adjusted the beam patern, the light output was way more focused than the stockers (better reflective lenses). The corner lights could have benifited from a white reflecter (like CTR headlamps), but unlike other black corner lenses, they do have chrome surrounding the bulb for better visibility. I use amber bulbs w/ a mirror coating, so you can't tell their orange when their off (it does make the bulb a little dimmer though). When I ordered mine form PCP, they forgot to send me the corner lenses, but they immediatly apologized, and mailed them to me (good service

I have the TYC 1 pc on my Egg.
The output and beam are 10x better then the stock setup. The beam puts light down better then my old 94 integra.

fluted? what do you mean by that?
if im thinking what youre thinking..then kinda. it cuts off sharper on the ends of the beams (far left and far right) i guess itd maybe be a little different if i still had my corners on all the time..

Im almost afraid to ask this question, because I have a feeling someone will post the link to the HID thread. BUT, has anyone retrofitted HID's into the TYC lamps? Ive been contemplating doing this but Im not sure if it is doable or even worth the effort? Thanks if anyone can help
Here are the parts. It's numbers 5 & 6 in the image. These longer sockets work much better and place the bulbs in optimum position (don't worry, they don't stick out into the headlight). Usually the ones you see for sale are the short ones from EG hatch rear licensplate lights. This places the bulbs deeper in the holes making the light less visible.

Here are the plugs & wires for those sockets. You need #'s 9 (plugs), 5 & 6 are the factory color wires, but one pack of the pigtails will work fine since positive & negative don't matter w/ these light bulbs.

Just wire them into your parking lights so they come on with your parking lights.

TYC makes "AFTERMARKET" OEM products, like the stuff the body shops wanna buy when they fix your car, cause its cheaper than actual OEM brand stuff. I would say go with the PCP ones since they are glass. No fading in the future with those ones, and less prone to chips if you do a lot of driving.
Here are my PCP headlights. The dark garage w/ poor fluroscent lighting & flash doen't do them justice, but I love em...
