resonator in place of cat ?
If i were to put a resonator in place of the cat, i was wondering if it would quiet down the exhaust.
i have the comptech header and cat back exhaust. i just want to quiet things down. its too loud for my liking

try putting on the stock muffler.. someone on the board tried it with his comptech piping and he noticed a good improvement in midrange power.. and it was quieter. he also thought the comptech exh was too loud
if you have a cat NOW and its too loud a resonated test pipe in place of the cat WILL MAKE it louder.if you have a test pipe instead of a cat at the moment then yes a resonated test pipe will quite it down.
i'm not familiar w/ the comptech cat-back but does it have a resonator? most cat backs do but if it doesnt have one adding one will make the world of difference in decibel levels.

I have a resonated testpipe on my 94 GSR. totally love it, deep and rumbly.
it is deep and soft at low rpms, but not quieter than stock.
no way would it be quieter than an oem catalytic converter.
now.... a high flow cat may be just a loud as a resonated testpipe, I dunno.

Catalytic Converter is used for removing harmful gases for exhaust. in some Countries you can get big fines for removing cat if you ad Extra Muffler or resonator should fix problem.
