Why does the S2K have dual exhausts?
Just wondering - it is only a 4-cylinder, after all, and a lot of Integras are making similar power without having to upgrade to a dual. Anyone know for sure? I know one guy who drives one who has a Spoon N1, and it is a single-pipe system.
Why do Camaros have single exhaust? It's not really a function of how many exhaust pipes but how much air you can move. I imagine it could have been single exhaust and made the same power, but it's more aesthetically pleasing to have two pipes so that's probably where it came from.
I would guess that he does mean the V6, I am almost postive the V8's have dual. But my buddy has a stock 3rd gen Camaro with a V6 and he has dual exhaust. Hmm...
The Z28 does not have a true dual system like the Stang or Vettes. Its sytem is like the diagram below. Isn't the S2K system the same way?
Could not do the diagram right, but basically it leaves the motor a dual, then joins and runs into one pipe, and has one muffler and exits the muffler a dual again

The dual exhaust is more for aesthetics on the S2000. Amuse, Spoon, & J's Racing all make single aftermarket exhausts for the S2000 which reduce weight and provide more power than stock. Mugen makes a dual exhaust but I don't think its as good as the single exhaust systems, plus the Amuse only weighs 7 lbs!
How can the exhaust of the S2K leave the engine dual if it's only 4 cyl?
You can kinda see how it is in this pic. The OEM exhaust has pretty much the same "shape" to it.

I really think its a matter of function over form, the wanted to make the car look more balanced in the back, i think that they did, but it just weighs the car down, and really serves no purpose
SoCal ITR, about your comment on V8 camaros, need I direct you to http://www.LS1.com ? There you can see that new STOCK v8 camaros put anywhere from 300-325RWHP right off the showroom floor. Hell, any 98-up LS1 equipped fbody will typically put over 300 to the wheels in factory trim, and they respond insanely well to mods.
First, V8 camaros don't have 300+ at the wheels
Second, 91 Camaro RS V6 has dual exhaust, at least two pipes anyway

The dual tailpipes split after the muffler, it's a single exhaust up to that point. The muffler is a one-in-two-out type.
Kinda funny..next time you shut off your s2k put your hand near the mufflers. The one on the right is ten times more hot
haha
i can imagine
whats an ITR? i always here about these but i dont know what they are. the s2000 exhaust is dual but comes from one header....it is to distribute the bad **** in there and let it out cleaner....if it was single...we would have more horsepower and the smog wouldnt pass?? i dunno...i want the amuse single tip.
ITR = INTEGRA TYPE-R
U should thank me for not flaming you for asking that!
