Default LS-Vtec

is all B serie Crankshaft the same?

I mean will My B16A2 Crankshaft fit in A B18B?
Cuz i'm wondering what part on my B16 (block), Could possibly swap in the B18B for a High Rev LS-Vtec... since i'm buying JE Piston et Eagle Rod's? it have to be reliable!

Thanks

The B18 has a longer stroke than the B16, so putting the B16 crank in the B18 would make it 1.6 liters. You would need longer rods, just a little longer than B16B rods, to make up for the extra block height.

Right the B18A/B18B(3.5 inches) has a longer stroke that the b16 (3.05 inches) and B18C (3.43 inches) Bore's are all the same (3.19 inches)

The Stroke is the distance between TDC(Top Dead Center) and BDC( Bottom Dead Center) of Piston in a Cylinder.

The B18 Block as a longer cylinder height that the b16. That give the B18 a 200 cc added displacement possibility?

Heres the Connecting Rods Spec.

-Stock B16 Connecting Rods Length = 5.290"
-Stock B18A/B18B Connecting Rods Length = 5.394"
-Stock B18C Connecting Rods Length = 5.430"

Heres the Cranks Spec.

-Stock B16 Crankshaft (Stroke) = 3.031"
-Stock B18A/B18B Crankshaft (Stroke) = 3.504"
-Stock B18C Crankshaft (Stroke) = 3.433"

After looking at the spec... you can see that with a B18A/B18B I would Get 2 Cubic inches higher that the B18C...

So you are right I guess if i put my b16 crank in the b18a/b18b it would make it a 1.6 liter, but could this problem be solve with only Longer Connecting Rods?

The b18a/b18b was not made to rev over 7000 r.p.m's so it has poor lubrication, bad rod bolts, rods, oil and water pumps, and piston valve relief’s.

KeithsDAteg Thanks for the links but I think i'll give the job to a professional shop that already know what they are doing!

I think the keys is too get a very good oil lubrification, So ill need the B16 Oil Pump.

then maybe ill juste keep the LS Crankshaft...putting "ESP" H-beam connecting rods and JE Pistons with ARP Studs all around will help me in reliability.

Question?
- Will My B16 Water pump fit in ?
- if it does what timing belt i'll be using? B16??
- Will my B16 Block Girdle fit in? Cause this will reinforce the bottom end and keep the moving parts in its place.

Can Someone Explain to me what is the R/S= rod to stroke ratio exacly?

thanks

Damn, if you knew all that, why did you even ask? Was this a quiz? Did we pass?

Any B series water pump will fit.
If you use the vtec water pump, use a vtec timing belt, same goes for the ls water pump.
You can use the block girdle, but I'm not sure what has to be done, a search may give more info

The rod/stroke ratio opens a huge can of worms, and there's a lot of reading to be done to fully understand the implications of it. Basically, the rod/stroke ratio expresses the relative amount of piston acceleration that will occur, and when it will occur. Higher numbers indicate longer rods, and more dwell time at TDC and BDC, giving more time for cylinder filling at high rpm. Lower numbers indicate the piston moving away from TDC faster, giving more low end torque. They also indicate the amount of side load the piston applies to the cylinder wall, shorter rods mean more load. Do a search, and read all you can, there's lots to be learned.
