There's a bigass thread on this if you search. Disconnect the brake booster hose, and SLOWLY dip it in the bottle and take it out, just pulling in a little at a time. You'll need a second person to hold the throttle open a little so it won't stall, and you'll need to be in a place where people won't mind seeing what looks like a car fire from the smoke.

I sea foamed my engine. Read all about the horrors of sea-foaming too fast.. hydraulic lock etc. Was gonna use the brake hose. But what I did was easier. Pulled one of the smaller rubber tubes loose from the whatever it was attached to, took a large glass bowl, pored out the amount of seafoam I wanted to feed the motor, got it going around 1500 rpm and just carefully let the motor sip the stuff out of the bowl. Tube was small like a straw. I would lip it sip until the motor slowed some and then i would back off. put the rest in the gas tank, then I went out and drove around for a while to let it clean out the cumbustion chambers. The sip method is easy as long as you can see how much it is sipping. Motor was happy too.

Have you even taken the car in for a smog yet?

I would suggest you only do a basic tune-up and try smogging it first.
Change plugs, distrubutor cap, rotor, set timing, run some injector cleaner (do a couple tanks of gas to get that stuff out of the fuel) and change the O2 if it's pretty old.

Test it in it's normal condition and see if it fails.

Then you will know what to do next.
Most places give you a free retest so it's no biggy.

I would also suggest you take it to a smog only place and not a mechanic shop that happens to do smogs as well.
Mechanic shops are notorious for trying to make it fail.
Then they can try to charge you for the parts and labor to fix it.
Smog only place... they don't fix crap and all they want is for your car to pass so they can test the next customer.

If you happen to fail after testing your car in "normal" condition then post up all your results and we can give you a very good idea of what might be the problem and why.

Search a little more, its not always good for older engines, it can actually make the engine run worse. I suggest using water if you want to clean your engine, nothing beats pure natural water. Spray some in the throttle body and this will steam clean the inside of your engine.

People underestimate that ****, or git skeerd. Not like you can't hydrolock a motor on fuel too... Just a little spritz is all you need.

I'm waiting for all the people to reply with, water no way your gonna hydrolock your engine, or I'm not putting water that close to my engine. All the people that know a little will know how good this trick really works.
