have heard good things about using ctr cams. was wondering what kind of gains could be found in a gsr cam, i have a friend that has a set for 75 bucks, i was thinking about buying adjustable cams and using those instead of my stockers. what are opinions of good cams for the money.

as long as the Geeser cams don't have a lot of wear and tear that would be your best bet, buy em. You can't beat it for 75 bucks. I'm sure they have a higher lift than stock b16a cams, especially the b16a1.

 

Depends what you want?Aftermarket or stock?

 

I have 98 gser cams and no cam gears and i put down at least an extra 5-10 hp. trust me get them. the power gain was night and day. 75 bucks is well worth it.

 

the stock b16 cams are the weakest of the bunch so any cam upgrade (gsr and up) will produce power.

Anyways, yeah, the B16a has the weakest cams of the bunch... I'm sure ANY DOHC VTEC cams woul dbe a decent improvement.....

 

I've seen a b16a1. not sure what it's out of though Xsi i think anyone know for sure?

 

The 1st gen B16A is usually from the JDM CRX SiR or the JDM Integra XSi. I think alot of people just call it B16A1 to specify 1st gen.

As far as cams, GSR cams should work out pretty good in a B16. CTR cams would be even better though

 

I put CTR cams in and it feels freaking great. The only problem is my ecu the vtec was set at 5200, stock itr and ctr is 6000 activation point. so i sent my ecu out, raised it to 5800 activation and 9500 redline. i'll dyno it and post it up along with cam timing adjustments which are definitely needed

 

i think i'm doing a Jun Spec 3 cam, intake, with ITR exhaust.. and JDM Hondaparts cam gears..

 

I have the CTR cams, they pull a lot harder especially up top as compared to the stock B16a cams. I would try to locate some late year ITR cams I hear they are supposed to be about the same spec as the CTRs, and cheaper bc they say ITR instead of CTR

 

1 million series is crx/civic 5 million series XSI watch out for some XSI engines if they were in a autotrans hp is down like 15hp

 

The hp is down in the auto ones cause the cams are keyed differntly. just get new cams if it was from an auto car
