Need H-T help again, my cars popping and im throwin a code now

Need H-T help again, my cars popping and im throwin a code now
Need some help. I'm driving my car around and all of a sudden as i push through 2-4k rpm the car begins to make poppin noises, almost like backfiring but not quite. IT's as if the car is suffocating, almost like the muffler was flooded if u guys have ever experience that.
It starts doing it alot and finally clears up but then the check engine light starts blinking. And BTW if anyone has that link on how tocheck the code and what the codes mean please drop it in this thread.
Also it doesnt do it all the time, only sometimes and only recently, sometimes it grabs bad and then all of a sudden doesnt grab at all.
Any info greatly appreciated. thanx in advance
