Default Q for the R's running high 13's flat 14's with minimal mods

R's that are pretty much stock, ~high 160s-low 170swhp, can run flat 14's and even high 13s....

right now, i think i have about mid 180s whp (gonna check it in 1 week) in my gsr...

what makes the R run the 1/4 so much faster...ppl have been saying that i should run a low 14 on street tires.?

-lighter flywheel
-ligther car in general
-limited slip
-shorter gearing
-power curve (can i get more elaboration on this)
-R wing

yeah, i have the R LSD with mid 180s whp....

what else can i do besides remove some weight and do some aerobics

i went 14.0 w/ only exhaust, street slicks, no back seats or spare & carbon fiber hood. Its all in how you drive the car.

172 WHP, balding stock tires, 4th gear locking out on me, took 3 times to get into gear(hence the low mph), 14.3@96. just aem and header, i'm confident this would have been a 14.1 otherwise, since then, i've got stickier tires, vtec controller, spoon n1, and clutchmasters flywheel (going on tomorrow) i'm confident i'll break into the 13's.

wouldn't let me into fourth gear, it felt like the shift gate wasn't there anymore, a couple people told me it had something to do with the engine moving around under hard acceleration and stiffer mounts would fix it? i dunno.

You need some low altitude and a big bag of weed and u can dream u drive that fast on a almost stock R lol

R's that are pretty much stock, ~high 160s-low 170swhp, can run flat 14's and even high 13s....

14.4@98mph with just an AEM intake. I think the gearing, suspension, weight, better stock tires and maybe the clutch make the difference. As for the power curve...They are pretty close fro what I've seen. GSR's actually have a better mid range torque because of the dual intake runners.

"ppl have been saying that i should run a low 14 on street tires.?"

If you can hook up on street tires you might see high 13's but don't expect to do it often. You need slicks to stay consistant.

I ran 14.2 with the following...

Stock R motor
Stock ECU, stock exhaust
Toda Spec A cams
AEM intake
DC JDM 4-1 w/ no cat (check engine light, yes)
Shitty Falken tires 195/50/15
Vehicle weight 2600 w/ driver

I have since brought vehicle weight down another 75 pounds, added a ported head, went back to ITR cams and added a ATS 4.929.. car feels way faster. Hoping for high 13s maybe...

oh btw, at the time of running, car made 182/130 at the wheels..

Not much help, but at 5800ft. above sea Level at Bandimere Speedway I ran a 15.846 @ 89.09mph. That generically calculates to 14.698 @ 95.97MPH at sea level.
My Car is/was bone stock, w/ about 2500 miles on the odometer, wieghed in at around 2715lbs. w/ me in it, 1/4 tank of gas, full interior etc.

The times I'm seeing from you guys would NOT be duplicated in the Atlanta area. Best R around here runs a 14.6 with I/H/E and 4.78 FD.

My '92 Si hatch with B18C5 swap and I/E ran 13.9@100.97mph on street tires and full interior - - the car weighed only 2280 w/o me. I weigh 160lbs.

BTW: I was pushing 175whp when I ran, and had the stock 4.400 instead of the 4.929 now. My new car will weigh about 2080, and the 4.929 might also help me bust mid-to-low 13's hopefully...

NOBODY turns good times here I guess...

I was sitting at 175 whp and ran 13.77 @ 100. I change the ecu and put back on the stock exhaust and ran 13.66 at 99mph. When I dynoed the new set up my peak hp was 173 but all before peak was about 2-3 hp above my previous set up. I run slicks of course.
