Problem a friend is having with his B16 Motor (please help) ANYONE With Motor Knowledge!
My friend has a B16A Del Sol and The problem he is having
and I know this will be hard with no pics to desribe what Im talkin about. However Ill try my best.
Where the Crank pulley is located, there is some type of "build" up of oil or plastic from the crank pulley to the motor. There is oil leaking from that area as well.
Also, there is a compression exaust sound coming from the Crank pulley side.
Anyone know wth this could or have ever dealt with "anything" similar to this problem?
He's pretty frustrated at this point, so any help would be much appreciated.

No, the motor won't have to be pulled. The price is comprable to a timing belt, because you're doing the same thing. The front main seal is a rubber seal that sits between the crank pulley and the crankcase, keeping oil in the block. It sounds like it is leaking in your friends case. If he needs to get his timing belt replaced this would be a good time to replace the front main

YUP, not only that but leaking oil on a timing belt = broken timing belt and bent valves. This was a common problem on the DSM cars like the Talon. Their cam seals would start to leak, soak the timing belt and then it would break causing all kinds of damage to the head.

I suggest since you guys have the crank pully off and the cover, redo the timing and water belt as well (like Bauley said) It would be killing 2 birds with one stone.
