Going down under.. need to store my car for a long time (6+ months). Need advice.
I'm going to be in Sydney for the next 6+ months starting Feb. I'm concerned on how I should leave my car in terms of preparing it for the long idle time it has coming.
Friends have suggested the following:
- oil change
- run it @ nomal temp around town for an hour to expel moisture
Couple things are on my mind:
- How much gas should I leave in?
- Anything need to be done about tire pressure?
- Any other fluids I should flush and replace?
- Is it absolutely necesarry to have someone turn it on and drive it around every so often? (Is turning it on good enough?)
I'm going to talk to my tech later, but I was wondering if anyone here knew what as the best way to prep my 1997 Prelude SS.
Thanks in advance.
(btw, anything I should check out in Sydeny in terms of cars?)

Sounds good to me as well. If you're going to store the car in a garage, remember to remove the (-) battery terminal too.

For 6 months storage I recommend the following:
1. Un hook battery (clock and ecu need constant power) or your battery will be dead when you return.
Awww hell just have a buddy of yours start it up once every couple of weeks to let the battery charge etc. and leave it at that.
You dont need to change the oil or anything like that if you are going for 6 months. That is unnecessary.
Just my $.02
