To anyone with Falken Azenis...
Just got a set mounted on all 4's, 205-50-15, on 15x6.5" konig villians. They are real squirly, alot worse than my worn out zeix's. Every little bump and notch in teh road maeks them pull to teh side. And especially when letting on and off the accelerator. They do take turns alot nicer, it seems alot easier to turn teh wheel when moving too. But anyone else notice a difference, curious if this is normal.
Oh, my camber is still negative too, i hve yet to install my camber kit.

they arent drag radials... but they are very grippy and most guys that you see at a HPDE road race school run them. i have them, and they are really twitchie and even more so when they get down on rubber. you might want to check the your toe and camber settings.
What? I was just looking at a set online. There considered Drag Radials.. I think you may be getting Drag Radials confused with Slicks.
Azenis are considered road racing tires...drag radials do not have stiff side walls. Many people use azenis for drag racing because they are affordable and get the job done.
they have bigger side walls than "some" but the walls are way to stiff to be drag radials... and since i get my road car tuned by a drag shop... we do talk tires... their set of falkens were absolutely shitty at the track... and its because as they wear the rubber gets harder and harder... and that only happens after you drive them for 500 miles to get the "skin" off of them...

Azenis are totally NOT drag tires, they might be better than some for drag, but a true drag radial has a very soft sidewall. The Azenis has perhaps the most rigid sidewall you can get on a tire, and its that way for the purpose of cornering. I'd consider then an autocross/street tire if anything.
y49crxsi, this "tram-lining" effect is from actually having grip...just like firmer springs, you'll get used to it in no time. Still, you should check your toe and get it set to zero to minimize squirrelliness. Also, adding some air pressure up front will help...try em out at 40psi.

Yeah, go tmy camber kit installed today, and yeah, i guess they are just damn grippy. My alignments great, and they spin so smooth now, handeling is insane compared to my other tires, which were at really low psi's right before i got rid of them. Hopefully theyll help out at the track though, need to run a 13 to be happy.
I autox a set, I haven't had them on the street very much but from the little I have I'd love to drive them everyday, but I won't. Grippy and stiff as hell...I love 'em.
They are undergoing a redisgn though, there's a thread in RR/Autox about it, let's just hope they do it right.

That squirliness and "tracking" isn't a tire issue, it's a toe issue.
Your alignment is off, have it fixed. Azenis don't "track" and they don't feel squirly to me at all with a good alignment. I've had them for street/track/auto-x use for 2 years.. I'd know.

you are right they dont track but if you arent on the best roads (and i live on the I-95 stretch just south of d.c.)... they can get weird.

my question for you is what size were your ziex tires? i had 175/75/13's on a 90 si, and when i made the switch the steering required more attention. azenis actually measure 219 across. not 205.

they are not drag tires at all. however i have pulled the same 60' times with them as when i had nitto 555 drag radials. i chose the azenis because of the 200 tread wear compared to the 100 of the 555 nitto.

Oh, adn yeah, they dont track, thats not the problem, its only when i hit little uneven parts of the road, like in a construction zone, or just man hole covers, etc... Ive learned to like it.
My car is a lot more 'darty' now that i have them on. I thought it was the Integra front suspension I put on my '90 CRX si about the same time. I will have the alignment done, but will also have the ball joints checked out. BTW: there is NO sliding around Road America now with these tires! I LOVE them!!!
I think my new trend will be to go back and forth between Azenis for hot weather and Ziex for cold weather and wet.
Azenis are still as heck...for their intended purpose, but aren't a good choice for someone who likes to drive decently in the rain. So when my Azenis were gettin down there, I opted to quit figting it out and get some Ziex.
If anything first impression of azenis...to ziex was slop from the softer sidewall, but a smoother ride...i'm happy

When the tires are new they will have alot of play in them until you warm them up. You basically got to work with the twitchiness for a lil while like say about 50-150 miles to work out the tread blocks since they are so large. After that it will run fine.
azenis are actually not great drag tires because they loose there stickyness when they are overheated(i.e. burnout box)...i have experienced this personally
