what the heck! Handling newbish question
I would like anyone with feedback to post their thoughs about what I should be looking for.......
Problem - Car will pull very sharply to both left or right depending on road conditions (NW Chicago IL roads are the sux0r). Major understeer when taking <110 degree turns... Seems to be a clicking sound coming from passenger rear shock tower.
What I've looked into all ready - I have checked for bent and or loose connections.. Nothing found. I have took the car to honda to see if I might need a alighnment, said no it's my after market rims/tires but nothing is bent...
Car Setup - 99' Civic DX Hatch. TOKICO Illumina 5 way adjustable with matching springs set on the stiffist setting (5). Dropped about 1 inch, arowspeed ajustable camber kit (not wearing tires! So no camber issue after 10k+ miles) on American Racing 17x7 42mm offset wrapped with Kumho ECSTA 711 205/40-17 rubbers..
Is anyone able to see a problem with the setup it's self, or have any ideas what I should be looking for? I have exhusted my efforts at this point. The car is "driveable", but is in my own opinion, unworthy of street use.

hmmm.....lower profile tires are very prone to following grooves in the road, so it could be that. I know when I ran 17" rims on my Civic it could get a litle scary at highway speeds on worn roads with it becoming "darty". When I switched back to lightweight 15"wheels my car now rides like a Cadillac but still handles every bit as good as before and it's not really affected by road ruts (my tires are 205/50/15 now).
If your tires are worn on the insides at all from improper camber, that will only contribute even more to the car wanting to follow the ruts in the road. I think you're running your shocks a little to stiff as well, try setting your fronts on 4 and your rears on 3 and see how the car feels. Also make sure you're not running to much air pressure in your tires, try going with the factory specs listed in your door jam + 5 psi (because of the 17" size). Higher psi will better protect your tires from blowing out a sidewall or bending a rim when hitting a pothole.
The last thing I would suggest is a swaybar for the rear of your car, this should eliminate your oversteer problems. A stock rear bar from an 99-00 Si would help but a larger bar from Suspension Techniques or an ITR would be even better.

Awsome, thanks for the feedback! I have messed with the shock settings, stiff in the front (setting 5) and 3 in the rear, but that seems to make the problem only worse. Plus, if I make the rear as loose as a goose, it wants to rub the fenders under low speeds. I think I'm going to raise the car a few more turns and re install the rear anti-sway and see what happens.
If all else fails, I'll loose the wheels and throw on the stock steelies until I can find a more suitable configuration..
