Default Weird question, but I have to ask.

I was wondering if anyone knew what type of screws hold the stereo in at the back (2 of them according to illustrations in the Helms manual). Are the typical 6X1.0mm? (the kind that Honda uses to hold a bunch of various brackets and accessories in the engine bay, ones with a 10mm hex head)? The reason why I'm asking is because today is the second day that after a hard shift from 1st to 2nd, the whole radio comes out and hits me right in the hand. As you can imagine this is a terrible distraction when you just redlined first and are grabbing 2nd, then wack! Your radio hits you in the hand breaking your concentration big time. Are they the type of screws that stereo manufacturers have you use to hold stereos on the side? Or should I just go to the Honda dealer? Thanks for any info.

HAHAHA, LMAO. That is some funny ****! Sorry, I don't mean to poke fun at your situation, but I can't imagine how surprising that would be. How HARD are you shifting? Is this an aftermarket stereo or the OEM deck?

Damn, I don't know why I didn't think of that! I think it's time for ZIP ties to the rescue!

Edit: Is it going to be possible to use some wires to tie it down? Does the deck have like a metal tab that sticks off the back so you can get some wire or zip tie through it? Or do the screws thread right into the main deck body housing? Hope that made sense... Thanks for any info. I know I'm asking a lot but I heard it's not easy get up behind there. Something about lying on your back on the front floorboard or something???

The OEM deck is securely screwd down. If its sliding around, something is broken.

No, no, it actually is pretty funny. I was laughing about it as soon as it happened. I couldn't get the stick up to the 3rd gear position so I had to engage the clutch and coast while I got the deck back in place! Hehehe. This is the OEM deck, my guess is the guy that owned it before me had an aftermarket deck in place and put the OEM one back in when he had to trade it in. Just forgot to or didn't want to replace the screws.

Haha, yeah that sucks, I'm sure that's what happened. The car is an 01, so just go to the dealership and tell them the radio keeps falling out. They should fix it for you under warranty.
