Are SRP-Pistons a good or a bad choise for b16a-Turbo?
If bad - why? Or what better choise?
Goal is roundabout 500hp as daily driver on german road conditions.
We decided for a 8.2 cr. Pleas do not dicuss about our CR-decision.
Thanks
Kevin

SRP pistons are JE's shelf-stock Sport Compact line...
And everybody knows JE's are BADASS. ;-) (Actually, They're just my fav... And I'm rockin' 'em in the teg as we speak) hehe.
SRP ==
and EASILY handling 500hp.

Yea... They're not that good quality a piston... I mean, it's not like Sterlin Marlin, Jimmy Spencer, Michael Waltrip, and Joe Nemechek, Kenny Bernstein, Larry Dixon, and Doug Herbert use them or anything... Nor were they in the world's fastest land speed bike...
*sigh*

That sounds as if I made a wrong decision. I allready bought a set of that pistons.
Why are they not good?
What is a better choise for roundabout 8.2cr?

He is... And once again... SRP pistons are simply JE pistons that are already made, sitting on a shelf. JE pistons are custom-made to your specs... But they don't get enough business that way so they come up with what they think the average customer is shooting for... stick it on a shelf, and call it SRP.
THEREFORE... The SRP pistons are of the same quality as JE pistons, provided the customer's spec on the JE piston is the same material; i.e. gasoline engine, <15000:1 compression, etc. etc.

**** your telling me there is a difference?? We just started a build with eagle long rods and 89 mm crank had the sleeves bored to 12 oz. mountain dew cans estimated compression was 17.0:1!

I have personally seen 6 sets of srp's melt, boosted and NA...All Professionally tunned.
I have one of the melted sets at home from a stock cr b16 with 17 degrees timming. poor kid had like 2000 miles on the motor.
