Default d16a6 oil consumption/////rebuild HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well i just got another d16a6 to rebuild (third one). Well this particular engine consume about 1qt of oil per week (about maybe 200km). Now on the other enigne i had rebuilt i just had the cylinders punched out to about a 1.7L and then just put in niw pistons and rings (costed quite a bit) and after that they ran good.

(cheaper way) on this engine i am just thinking about honing out the cylinders to brake the glaze and install new OEM rings. And using the same pistons. Now have any of u done this? and do u think it will consume less oil than before or will it just stop burning ? All the seals valve stems seals ect.... have all been replaced, all machine work done.

From my experiance i say it should work out pretty good. But if any u have done this let me know how much it had improved.

As long as you rehone, the rings should seat properly. That should be all you have to worry about. I would check to make sure you didn't crack a ringland before hand. It might also be a good idea to have the pistons hot tanked to clean them up before reinstall.
hope that helps
