Default for everyone that has had a CEL code 4 (ckp sensor)

well i tried in TECH and it seems no one knows the answer. so ill try here

im helping my cousin do a swap and its done. the only problem we have is that it is throwing a cel for the ckp sensor which is in the distributor. well i got another distributor and he resetted the ecu and it went away until he started the car again. then it came back on.

1999 gsr motor into 1998 civic coupe dx
re-used the dx harness and added neccessary plugs
ive asked some friends about this and they said that it was the distributor but it wasnt.

I had the same CEL/problem when I went obd1 in my 90 CRX and switching the two wires for that sensor fixed it.

The two wires for the ckp sensor. I'm not sure if you had to modify them for your swap, or run extra wires for it or whatever, but on mine there were two wires for that sensor, a positive and a negative. I switched those and the code went away.

on OBD2 cars, the CKP sensor is integrated on the oil pump... unless I'm getting CKP & CKF sensors mixed up

thanks katman....ima go ahead and switch those wires around and see what happens...you think it would be easier to switch it from the ecu side?

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by b20izzle &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">thanks katman....ima go ahead and switch those wires around and see what happens...you think it would be easier to switch it from the ecu side?</TD></TR></TABLE>

no, i dont think you should switch the wires at the ecu plugs, cuz the wiring changes at the main harness plug if you have an EG/DC2 integra which uses a 2piece engine harness. If you have an EK its a different story, cuz EK's use a 1 piece engine harness...

it'll get confusing. Best to change the CKF/P at the sensor.
