what am i gonna need for 185+whp?
I just got my apex n1' cat-back today. Hopefully i'll get it installed before next week with JDM 4-1 headers and high flow cat. That'll finish off my basic bolt-ons list. I figure that i'll be running low 15's with that set up. My goal for my car is high 13's all-motor. I was wondering if theres anyone on this board running CTR cams and running high 13's or have 185+whp? I'm not sure if i should go for JUN cams because i don't plan on raising my compression. Any suggestions to achieve 185 whp would be appreciated.

i think to achieve 185whp+ on a b18c1, ud have to raise compression.
If u raise compression, to say 10.6:1 or >, then for sure u can make 185whp with CTR cams; many ITR's on this board have that number with ITR cams

well my compression right now is 10.1:1 and people saying raising compression by one full point of compression only ups your horsepower by 5 hp. Is it also true that b18 engines don't benefit from CTR cams as much as b16s? I don't understand how that works, could someone here care to explain? thanks

skunk2 manifold
es oval exhaust
intake(sometimes aem&sometimes stock airbox)
vafc skunk2 cam gears
all in my little piggy wiggy teggy
want to put it in another ef or maybe ek, might just leave it in the piggy, dont to much
care about the drag strip ****(maybe to test&tune)

how do you like your skunk2 manifold? Do you have OBD 1 or 2? I've heard of people getting CEL with OBD 2.

you have to use a complete head gasket if your gonna use itr pistons in a gsr. the clearance between the piston and the blocked off sides of the quench area are too tite, they will hit for sure. i already went through this whole ordeal last month.

most peeps use two layers with copper spray(on stock) headgasket... or else they use the mugen or spoon 2pc.
i used stock single layer...with the complete head gasket you get 0.8mm of clearance between the quench area and piston.
hey just get 00-01 ITR cams instead of CTR - they are the same specs (you can tell the 00-01 ITR intake cam from 97-99 intake cam cause it has 2 engraved rings on the distributor end of the intake cam - where 97-99 has 1 ring engraved. CTR cams have 2 rings engraved. Both 00-01 ITR and CTR cams have 3 degrees more duration on the intake cam. exhuast cams are the same for CTR and all ITR years) yes it is true b18c doesn't benefit from the 3 degrees as much as b16a - something to do with the lenght of the stroke I think
well for some strang reason my boys 5th gen h/b with gsr did pretty well with the
ctr cams. he ran better with that set-up then he does now with jun3's(only becaues he's on stock compression).
but whatever, i got the ctr intake cam, soon have the exhaust. once both are in i will dyno and see what happens.
maybe i can borrow a itr cam from one of my peeps and see what happens. later i might upgrade to skunk2's(original)
or jun in/itr ex cam set up. no biggie, i got better things to worry about. i just wanna hit up curves, sohc or dohc i dont care.
stock or fully built, im not trying to go pro.
im just having fun, and enjoying my cars life
