Default LS/VTEC build question (pistons)

I am building my ls/vtec and have a question about piston selection.

I am trying to decide between JDM ITR (p73-00) pistons and CTR (pct) pistons. Im using a b18b block and a b16a2 (p30) head. Using the c.r. calculator at c-speedracing.com, the JDM ITR pistons would give a c.r. of 11.6x and the CTR pistons would give a c.r. of 12.3x. Is it worth it to go with a forged piston, or are OEM honda pistons good?

For the rest of the build, Ill be using forged h-beam ls rods, dh-racing cams and valvetrain, and other misc parts.

I was wondering, is 12.3 too high of c.r. for a street car?? will I have valve clearance problems with the CTR pistons?

Thanks for any help that can be provided

Alfred

pardon my st00pidiTee but are ctr pistons taken from the b16a2 block? and i wouldnt run a 12.3 compression without a very nice fuel set up, stock injectors/ fuel pump = knocking all day long

ctr pistons =B16B

and you should just be able to get a FPR and increase the fuel pressure, and you should be good to go.

i'm doing LS/vtec setup aslo but i'm going

LS block
dont know what rods
ctr pistons
Gsr head
bbk intake manifold and tb
aem fuel rail
aem fpr
aftermarket cams (????)

So, what I'm hearing is that as long as I have proper fuel management, 12.3 c.r. should be ok for a daily driver??

I was planning on going RC injectors (320cc) with a in-tank fuel pump and a FPR. Does that sound good, or maybe even overkill??

Maybe even an AFC or similar fuel management computer as well??

Thanks for the help!!

if you are talking after market rods. i belive you will have to have the pistons modified to use a after market wrist pin (not 100% sure)
