Default Ode to the 92-95 Civics (Bought a Civic DX today)

Although at first glance this looks like a "CHECK MY CIVIC yO!" topic that doesn;t belong here, the truth is I would like to make a point about the 92+ Civics and this has nothing to do with appearance so I believe this is the right place to post this.

Ode to the 92-95 EG HBs

I have had a few EGs. Sold them all. All white. Last night I went to the store to buy some groceries and I picked up the local trader paper where people can list their stuff for sale for free.
There was on ad that got my attention:

"92 Civic for sale. Needs work. call ........."

So I called last night and left a message. Told the guy to call me till 11:00 PM last night... So he did. Told me that the car doesn;t run, needs work and that the body is fine and that it is a DX , white....

So this morning, I go to look at it, 1 hour ago. I get there, look at it, check out the engine bay... Car looked clean, no rust in any of the panels... I was suprised. So he gives me the keys and I start it.

Me- I htough you said it doesn't run?
Him- well it does, but makes this noise (points to valve cover, knocking noise)
Me- Yes, I can hear that. It will need some work, but I am willing to do it.
How about $450?

Him- You got a deal.

I got the title and bailed before he called the cops, reporting the car stolen

Point of my story.... Forget what you know about these cars. Forget the gsr swaps, the beauty of their body, the great gas mileage.....

They are just like any other POS 10 year old cars out there... NOT!!!

<------ Happy

Damn, you basically stole it from him.

BTW, I'm only leaving it here because you contribute so much K info.

Damn, I have been looking and looking for a white 92-95 with a straight body on it, and I can't find one. May have found one that I'm gonna check out next weekend though.

I am not sure yet. Sounds like big time valve ticking....

I have a few ideas.... what to do with it....

Ideally, I would want to:

-clean out my garage

-put the car in there

-put a heater in there for the cold WV nights

-raise the car

And step by step document, getting the engine out , everything...

Take the car for a paint job so it looks like this

then document step by step a k24a/k20a2 install in the car with homemade pnp harness and everyhting possible to keep cost down.

Once the install is over and I have the car running.. I would continue the documentation with tuning... dyno.... and basic tuneup and replacement procedures like cams, etc... K-pro AEM tutorials, street tuning VS dyno tuning....

Like I said... ideally... That **** sounds like a 3-4 month project.....

I might sell it too... who knows?

Joetypes gave me same of these ideas
