can you use a LS timing belt w/ GSR water pump?
i'm putting a ls/vtec together,i normally use a 22teeth vtec water pump along with a gsr timing belt, but what i wanna know is can you use a 22teeth water pump with a LS timing belt?would it be too lose or too tight?is there going to be any problems?
because it will be too tight, it's intended have the same amount of slack BUT with a nonVTEC 17T pump. I have seen some people (retards) put nonVTEC water pumps on VTEC motors, still using a VTEC timing belt. Since you'll never be able to get all the slack out of it does have a good chance of slipping but it will still run. (don't do this, i'm just giving an example)
Yup, and that's actually what you "should" do when building an LS/CRVTEC, you just use a GSR/ITR timing belt. We do this on all the motors we build.

Yea, if you're reving your motor higher than the stock 6800rpm I would definately swap the water pump, if it's not much higher the VTEC one will still work but it is intended for higher rpm usage. I don't know what year motor you're working with but most late model oil pumps are all the same nonVTEC or VTEC so it really doesn't matter. While you have everything off I would just buy a GSR/ITR oil pump (even though they all should be the same) and put it on there.
