How you my sleeves look?
Set 1 and 4 to tdc then take your fingernail and go sideways across the cylinder walls to make sure there is no scarring. If your nail catches, you need to hone them. Repeat by setting 2 and 3 to TDC and check cylinders 1 and 4.

incorrect. even the closed deck blocks have FRM sleeves in them. if you are going to run forged pistons, sleeve it. reguardless of deck type.

You might be thinking of a block guard.

I'm curious, where does a block guard go? any pictures of one installed?
I'm thinking it's something at goes around the sleeves in an open deck block to sort of reinforce them a little.
edit: found a picture of one i got it

block guards help prevent sleve movement. with a closed deck you do not need one. hell you cant use one. but on an open deck i would highly suggest it. that $100 piece could save your engine over time. worth the piece of mind IMHO.

its closed deck so I don't need a block guard. it have alreasy been sleeved with iron sleeves. So far they are smooth accross the cylinders, the block only has 1000 miles on it after the rebuild but somthing didn't look right.
