Going to the dark side...Nitrous.
Hey..Well i PLAN on purchasing a Zex kit this thursday from a friend.
I dont know much about nitrous, so i wanna take the necessary precautions with it. And dont tell me to search, for i did, and alot of them werent helpful, just people bitching and fighting about wet vs dry.
Anyway, it will be a DRY set up, which i hear mixed reviews about. So i got the spark plug thing down, and changing my timing (retard).
Anything else? Will i REALLY have to retard my timing, because i didnt like running too rich especially with my AEM fuel rail. I'd rather stay at my set timing.
And how much shot can my b16 handle, has i/h/e and ITR pistons. Just trying to get some input. Thanks guys.

I would believe at least a 50 shot would be fine on this setup, any more and you will have to worry about fuel considerations though.
But if you have the capabilities too, Wideband that sucker during the said 50 shot run and see how much room you have to work with.

its a B16...and partially built.
so DOHC

ITS ALL ABOUT THE FUEL TUNING....
get your car wideband tuned so you know your not leaning out
EDIT: just remembered you cant wideband nitous.... messes up the readings....
still just make sure you dont lean out

that's weird, usually a topic about nitrous ends up with about 27 replies saying "no way d00d, your ****'s gonna blow up", or the ever popular, "d00d! NOS is maaad cheating". LOL.
...I'm doing a 50 shot of nitrous on a dohc zc soon.

I wound up squeezing.....for one night
My car was stolen and wrecked that night. But instead of 65 shot i used 85, and it held up quite well. Pulled about 5-6 cars on my friends b16a2 EK hatch, and kept on pulling.
Cars in the process of insurance, and will be parted out soon...Time for an EG hatch..but i will always miss my crx.

Retard 2 degrees and run 91/93 octane fuel, get an NGK with a heat range of 7. Better to run rich than run lean and detonate. FYI your AEM fuel rail doesn't do squat.

exactly...hit the nail right on the head. Better to run rich (hurts performance) as opposed to lean (promotes detonation). The fuel rail isn't a factor unless you are forcing more fuel, but if you just have it sitting there...yesh, it's not doing anything.

It was running just fine, but it's pointless now, since the car is done.
Thanks for the info all, i got it running just fine, and for that one night...That one night, it was perfect.

Get a wet Zex kit.
Don't run more than 55, don't let your wheels spin too much, or get a stronger clutch. Go easy on the bottle, and maybe a purge kit, but purges aren't really necessary, and not having one helps me by cutting on wheelspin. Make sure you don't get the thing too hot or too cold, and keep it hidden. There you go.

The zex dry kit work great on Honda's. I actually ran a prototype kit for zex years ago on my (at the time) ZC powered crx. I had it in there for about 2 1/2 years and no problems what so ever. What i did to make sure of that was to:
- use a HD clutch...i had a DF Centerforce
- always run premium gas
- run one step colder plugs
- i ran a 255lph fuel pump and B&M regulator.
The only other thing a did was use energy mount inserts to get better traction which got me a 13.7 @ 101mph on street tires.
Now i run all motor b series and have lsd.
