Default ZEX dry 55 shot on stock B16 questions

Im thinking about putting a 55 shot on my B16A that has an i/h/e and ITR cams. Would it be safe without doing any ECU tuning? Im going to run a step colder NGK plugs and probably pull 2 degrees of timing up top and that be it. My plan is to not spray it until I get it on a dyno and if it's to lean when we spray it there, change the fuel pill to the one used on a 75 shot. Do the ZEX kit's really make it run lean w/ out ECU tuning anyway? I know they have that control box that monitors bottle pressure and that regulates fuel pressure. So are they generally safe enough to run without tuning as long as I have the colder plug? I don't wanna expletive anything up..

you dont have to do anything, put it on and let her rip. you dont have to change timing until you go 65 and 75 shot. once you buy the kit it explains all that in detail in the instructions. have fun i love mine.

ya, the "fuel" pill lol. its just like a rising rate regulator for a boosted car. i had no probs with my dry kit on my sohc, and zex is setup to be rich

thanks guys. That's what I needed to know. I've heard lots of good things about ZEX so Im gonna go with them. So the fuel pill is made to add enough fuel to richen it up and stop it from leaning out?

Yeah it ups your fuel pressure

You dont need to pull any timing for a lonely 55 shot though. I ran a 75 on my d16a6 for a year with 2* pulled and it ripped hard and loved every second of it

Maybe think of stepping up to a 75, ur motor can take it easily and u dont need to upgrade anything

No

No zex filter

No zex plugs

I purchased a bottle heater and a nitrous pressure gauge when I had mine installed, just because nitrous was so expensive back in the day and getting the bottle pressure perfect just made it that much more fun

carlos: where did you put your nozzle at? Was it right at the throttle body or was it about 6-12"s away? and did you use colder plugs? How long did you spray for each time you used it?

Hmm...did you check your a/f ratio? How healthy was your motor before you sprayed it...? It could've been that the rings were already going bad and then extra pressure from the n20 finished them off. I don't have a clue, just guessing. I rarely hear of something like that from a 50-55 shot.

my motor was in very good condition before spraying only had 70,000 miles.... i wouldnt recommend nitrous but if u spray good luck and let me know how it goes...dont get me wrong ur going to LOVE the 55 shot it pulls hard! it made a whole second difference for me at the 1/8 of a mile...
