Question about Accord V6 parts
my boy has a 01 accord V6.. we went to a couple of shops yesterday cause he wanted to buy a I/H/E .. to start off .. the seconds store we went to they told not to bother buying the Header and that the a cold air Intake .. would work the same as a short ram.. but they tried to get him to buy a Suspension up grade.. Will the I/H/E make a difference
Well I mean this is the universal question: Will I/H/E make much of a difference? It will make a difference of course, just probably not as noticeable as you would like for the $$$ all of the above cost.
It's very hard to squeeze any sort of power out of our cars with basic bolt-ons unless it's like a turbo kit. It's going to sound a lot different, throatier, and it'll help the car for sure.
I say it's worth it, you have to start somewhere so why not go w/ the basics.
The HP gain they say you will get is probably a generous one, I would say 4-7 w/ the CAI, 4-5 w/ the Headers, and another 5-8 w/ the exhaust.

that's what i am saying, it will make a difference, but to expect lineing up with vetts.. thanks i just to make sure i wasnt telling him something wrong
The V6 header is much more expensive than the I4 header just 'cause it's more parts and is more complex. The V6 aftermarket exhausts are usually more expensive than the 4 cylinder models, 'cause they usually try to emulate the V6's inane dual muffler setup (it wouldn't be inane if it were actually two independant exhaust systems instead of one splitting at the axle).
cool thanks for the posts i going to try to see if i can find some sort of # on HP gains, but either way my boy is going to get the stuff in about 2 weeks
I made 8-10hp with an AEM short ram. Other Honda V6 engines (j32a) have also made b/w 8-12hp.
Headers should give VERY good gains if you have a cat back exhaust. On an V6 Accord expect anywhere from 6hp-13hp (dyno proven) and on a CL-S/TL-S up to 20 something HP is possible in the high rpm range (also dyno proven).
Exhaust is probably the worst bang of the buck mod on a V6 Accord while an intake is probably the best.
My car stock had a peak hp of 155-156hp. After adding the intake My peak HP was about 163-164.
With the stock exhaust, the headers increased my peak hp from 163hp to 169 with 1-3hp gains starting at 4,000rpms.
Check the Dyno forum on http://www.accordv6.com/forums/ if you want to see the charts.
P.S. The headers are around $1,100 to $1,200 where as the SR intake is only about $130-$150.

Well right now, CompTech is the ONLY company that makes headers for the V6 Accord. A lot of other companies are talking about it but so far it just been that, talk.
Warp Speed and Greddy are two companies that are supposedly considering making headers for the V6 Accord.
