idling problems. HELP!
civic lsi vtec 1996 3 door hatchback. d15Z6
since ive had the head gasket replaced idle fluctuates between 1000 -200.
When i come to a stop idles low and sometime stalls. Stalling increases if a put my foot down. Things ive done are:
throttle body cleaned
sparkys changed
ecu reset
air intake screw adjusted
vacuum pipes checked
Sometimes the car feels really rough and other times ok whilst idling. Usually happens when engine is warm. No engine light..
is this technical or what

exactly you unplug the IACV hold the rpms at 3000 untill the fan kicks on and slowly let of the accelerator until it idles, then you slowly adjust the "screw on your throttle body". once you have it idling around 550-600 turn off the car plug the IACV back up and restart the car....then you should be idling around 850-900. with a good idle set, get in your car and drive to the auto store and purchase a haynes manual or turn off your car and sit in front of your computer and order a helms manual.

I have done the idle reprogramming without any success. I have come across another problem which may be connected. When the car is cold hesitates to idle high and i can feel the car engine shaking. It seems as though it is misfiring. Do u know what is causing this?

the problem happend straight after the head gasket replacement so could it have anything to do with the valve clearance. Like do the valves have to be reset? What do you think!

where did you bleed it from? did you let the car get hot enough for the thermostat to open to get coolant back up the the intake mani?

on my civic the idle is adjusted via the iacv. I have followed the instructions to reset my idle from actual honda guide and it still has not resolved the problem. Could the valves cause this to happen as there are valves for the air system. Also the ignition timing?
Hi. Problem sorted at last. It was a vacuum pipe underneath the inlet manifold that had come of causing the idle speed to go up and down. Also the timing was reset because the vacuum affects timing. Tappets were not reset during headgasket. So they had to be reset. Hope this helps!
Help I have the same idling issue up and down when engine gets warm ,, what vacuum pipe was that and where my car was in serious collision and may have came off ,,, Thx
